Why whenever a new folder is created in Win2k, 2 new files are placed inside?

The 2 files are desktop.ini & folder.ini. This has never happened before, and I can't think of anything I did that could cause this. Any newly created folder has always been empty before, and that's with the "show hidden files and folders" checked, and "hide protected operating system files" unchecked. It's kind of annoying. Anyone knows what the problem is?

I couldnt find anything that said its a problem.

desktop.ini

The only thing I could find on Technet for folder.ini was referring the to IE favourites folder in NT 3.51, it didnt seem relevant.

When you choose the customize your folders you get those two files.
If you want to get rid of the two files you have to make it so your folders arent customized.
Right click in your folder and click "customize this folder" or something like that.
Just disable all customizations.

I've just been playing with creating a desktop.ini file. Its actually a cool little feature, but a bit pointless as its only cosmetic, and from a sys admin point of view, one more thing for users to screw theire machines up with ;) (theres always one!!)
