IMO alcohol is worse than weed. When people drink alcohol, they can become unpredictable and violent. When people smoke weed, they generally just want to eat a lot :p:D

Also, the difference between weed and alcohol is that alcohol doesn't affect those around you directly if you get piss ass drunk. I hate smokers and their disregard for others.

Oh really?

I suppose the loud, obnoxious, and sometimes violent behavior drunks behave dont affect others. Nor do drunks pissing on your car or property. And I guess DUI's dont really affect other's either.

Yeah, your right. Piss-ass drunk people dont ever affect others.

I see no real reason for weed to be legalized. So people will be able to get it legally and it will be "safe", who cares? Why should the government legalize a substance that accomplishes nothing other than making you high? Imagine that one day it is legal and you can walk into 7-11 and pick up some milk, cookies, and a pack of mary janes, do you actually think that will be a good thing? The poeple in our country are stupid enough as it is, we don't need to add to the mix. Now everyone will be getting hooched up and sucking back some hash and they'll be killing off brain cells left and right.

Think of it this way, the reason you go out drinking is to have a good time correct? Well, what do you think will happen if all of a sudden you can just suck back a joint and increase your fun factor by 2? Now all of a sudden people are getting stoned left and right. Eventually weed will catch on like wildfire, people will be inhaling a packet a day just like cigarettes. This will lead to:

Massive lay-offs because of incompetent employees
Nimrods suing the weed companies because:
A) We didn't know it made us stoopid!
B) They're the reason I lost my job!
High and non-high sections in restaurants
and last but not least, once our entire country has been turned stupid we'll get invaded by the french and be forced to grow cheesy mustaches and wear berets.

Thanks, but no thanks. The poeple in our country are stupid enough today, we don't need to make matters worse.

You don't go to many places that serve alcohol do you? I'd take being stuck around a pothead over a drunk any day.

I bet you don't go to restaurants with smoking and non-smoking sections do you?

People do things they aren't supposed to all the time, that doesn't mean they should necessarily get stuck in jail for it.

Then why make laws?

I bet you had a D.A.R.E bumper sticker stuck on your notebook in high school.

Nope... but I knew potheads whose life went to absolute crap.

I seriously hope your joking. Your logic is so flawed it hurts.

so an alcoholic wife beater doesnt affect people around him?

A drunk driver killing someone doesnt affect them?

WTF kind of rock you smoking buddy?

Weed? It makes you talk more and be more social if you are with other people, as long as you dont smoke yourself silly. You laugh quite a bit, and as mentioned, want to eat more. Alchohol does far worse things in comparison when considering the effects each has on other people. Smoke weed a lot and you will most likely just get burnt out and lazy.

Hmm do you think that the majority of the people would smoke themselves silly? As in have any self control?

Good lord, its not as if people sit in restraunts or even walk around outside smoking a joint or toking a bong. 99.5% of the time if you are around weed you are perfectly free to leave the area. Legalizing it wont change that, the law would quite likely be just like public intoxication for alchohol.

Seriously, tell me the last time you were in a public place and a pot smoker came around and lit up a joint? Even *if* you are lying and say that its happened to you, the only way the smoke could affect you is in a closed ventilation restraunt or a car/bus etc. And I severely doubt thats happened to you either.

I consider being beat or killed by a drunk, that wouldnt do the same thing if they were sober, a DIRECT reprocussion of drinking alcohol.

and as long as your not sealed up in a 4x4' room with someone smoking pot, you ain't gonna get high.

You have quite an imagination there chief. Take a look at Holland. Cannabis is legal there and most residents don't use it. Most of the people smoking weed in Amsterdam are tourists from this country.

lol I think people don't do that now because it's illegal and they're afraid of getting caught. It's like waiving a gun down the street in a public area. Just doesn't happen.

Exactly, so how can someone use the argument of second hand smoke? I *might* have some sympathy if people were smoking it over all the place in restraunts and you were inhaling it, but jiminy christmas!

I suppose we should call everyone who drinks an alcoholic right? Cause you guys are using the term "pothead" so loosely. Ultima is a friend of mine, and we've smoked up a few times before, both together and seperate. Of all my close friends who've smoked pot, not one of them has ever developed any kind of addiction or bad habit. Maybe the people who are getting addicted have no will power or desire to stop, hmmm? Don't blame the drug, blame the drug user (or abuser in those cases).

Another interesting point is behaviour while under the influence. Observe the behaviour of someone under the influence of alcohol versus someone under the influence of marijuana. You'll notice they don't act the same at all. Alcohol is uninhibiting. I don't know about you, but I feel a lot more in control after a joint than after having drank alcohol. A lot of people get very violent when drunk, that's a well known fact. Have you ever heard of people smoking up and crashing their cars or beating up people? Nope.

Too many people buy into the propaganda bullsh!t making themselves think that "weed is bad cause it's a drug and drugs are bad!mmmmkay!"... Well guess what, alcohol is just as much of a mind altering substance as marijuana, therefore making it a so-called "drug" as well. I think people should judge the severity of the drug based on results rather than ridiculous propaganda. Look at all the complete and total sh!t that has happened just cause of alcohol. We're lucky it was legalized. What if it wasn't? Would you still have the same view on alcohol vs weed? Probably not.

Anyway, smoking a fat one doesn't make you a pothead or druggie - just like having a cold one doesn't make you a drunkard. Hitting back a few shots of (insert hard liquor) on some weekend with a few buddies does not make you an alcoholic either.

I've heard of people smoking up and killing other people for weed and also people who don't smoke up killing other people so they can smoke up.

I think our government realized that they made a big mistake in legalizing alcohol and that they don't want to take another chance with weed as it might also provoke more violence. They're trying to do what's best for the nation as a whole even though sometimes they don't seem like they're doing that. That's why we even have a government.

And anyways, if it was legalized, what's to stop people from protesting to have other drugs legalized? "We're lucky it was legalized. What if it wasn't?" Would you still have the same view on weed vs <insert any drug here>? "Probably not. "

The line has to be drawn somewhere.

No. If you don't eat, you die. No, it didn't have to be pizza or nachos, but they're food nonetheless.

Personally, I don't care if it's legalized or not. Same thing with cigarettes. Tax it, prohibit it, I don't care. It doesn't affect me directly any more. Having been around dumbasses who wasted their lives away while soaking up either pot or liquor, I can't say which one's more harmful to one's future, except for the obvious factor(alcohol is legal, but pot isn't).

Yup and anyways pizza and nachos can be part of a balanced diet. You got the cheese, the bread, and the meat. It's fattening if you don't exercise or eat a balanced diet. :)

Should weed be legalized? -> Dosen't matter, it never will. A law which brings morality into question would require an overwhelming majority of opponents to be overturned and only a small portion of the population share the idea the weed is OK.

Oh, I get it. I'm the idiot, becuase I don't smoke or don't plan to smoke. I'm not polluting the environment with something as stupid as lighting up a joint. And you posting a thread about how weed should be legalized (which it shouldn't and won't) will not do anything to help the matter.

Do you have any reputable sources on that? Not saying you're wrong or anything but sometimes you might be surprised at the results.

Would all lose thier jobs overnight if drugs were made LEGAL. My guess is somthing in the order of 2-4 million unemployed, That's why it will never become legal.
