Why was this locked

Why was this forum? I dont see anything wrong, he was just stating an opinion that said nothing wrong or racist. Are Anand moderators getting too strict?

Maybe Ill get locked here to . But why would that matter, its still an off topic remark that has nothing to do with computers.

maybe you should hang around here a little more often to see what exactly happens of political posts in off topic. it was locked for a reason, and a damn good reason at that.

There's a word for people like you... it describes someone who asks a question, is given an answer, then rejects the answer because he doesn't like it.

Oh yeah, I remember it now. "Dipsh!t."

Okay. The concept of Off Topic.
By Nik

Off Topic. The concept eludes so many posters these days. Let's explore the idea, shall we?

To begin, we must recognize that the concept of Off Topic suggests the existance of an On Topic. What ideas fall under these catagories? On-Topic suggests ideas that are directly related to the topic. Off Topic suggests ideas that are directly UNrelated to the topic. On a forum that is dedicated to computers and technology, all discussion about said computers and technology would be considered On Topic. In a forum with multiple catagories, On vs. Off Topic can further be defined by individual catagory descriptions such as different sections of the computer (motherboards, CPU, peripherals, etc). In this case, discussions that do not fit into related catagories would fall under the concept of Off Topic.

Now, mind you, Off Topic is not a "catch-all" for anything and everything regardless of the existance of catagories that might better suit the topic discussion. When such organization exists, it would be prudent to put Motherboard discussions in the Motherboard catagory, Networking discussions in the Networking catagory, and so on.

Wait, you say! I have a topic that I would like to post! Well then, let's first decide which topic that the discussion would be most appropriately posted in. If there is an existance of Off Topic among many other On Topic catagories, one must first attempt to place the discussion in the most closely-related catagory. Political topics belong in *gasp* Politics & News. Now, if P&N did not exist, then it would be prudent to post the discussion in the Off Topic catagory since the other catagories are most closely related to computers and technology.

In closing, consider these very simple concepts the next time you decide to post a thread. By following these very basic ideas, you will find the forum a happier place. Posters will not be confused by software posts in OT and OT posts in P&N. Children will get better grades. The great minds of our time will suddenly solve world hunger. We will invent the prototype hyperdrive, allowing passing Vulcans to note the signature, land, and enter Earth into the United Federation of Planets, plunging our society lightyears ahead.

So please.

Before you post, think of the Vulcans.

I post everything in OT...of course I post almost exclusive items that are in fact of no real importance or relevance to anything else so they are OT
