Why was my thread locked and not this one?

If I had to guess I'd say it's because your thread advocated posting pics and the other doesn't.

Yeah, probably more frequently than that but it's still my guess.

My advice is not to look for consistency here because you won't find it; t's just the way Internet forums work.
 
There are no hard and fast rules on locking threads. It is up to each moderator's discression. Some are a bit more lenient than others, but there will not be any consistency.
 
People need to realize that there is more than one Mod. As n0cmonkey alluded to, each one thinks differently about different issues.
It is also so well know that "babe" threads are not allowed. Yes, they happen but are often locked. See my second sentence.
I have found the best way to show your displeasure over something is to not use that product. If this place is so bad, leave.
