Bluetooth uses 128-bit random key generation for ad-hoc networks. For communication between dumb clients (ie. a Bluetooth enabled headset for your cell phone), the user will have to input the client's unique ID into the smart client. The smart client will then only communicate with the dumb client using the appropriate key/UID. FYI...Bluetooth also uses frequency hopping and operates on the 2.4 GHz spectrum.
