Why was a university flunky allowed to make up the university credit hour system?

StageLeft

Whats with this hour garbage? 8 credit hours is not 8 X 60 minutes time spent, so wtf? Couldn't they make up something real like perhaps months?

I have taken 45 credit chocholates. I mean wtf.

At our school, every credit hour is worth 50 minutes of class a week (their are exceptions, i.e. sports classes).

So a 4 credit class meets 4 times a week for 50 mins each...

yeah, all of the UCs except Berkeley are on quarters. Actually ucla is considering switching to the semester system in the near future.

Same here. All schools in Alabama used to be on quarters but they have since changed to semesters.

What I find funny is that there are some many different credit systems, yet it seems everyone thinks theres is the only one out there.
There was a thread, "Thank God for 3 Credit quarters." Then theres "Thank God for 31 credit quarters."

I took CHEM 202 last year.

It was a 3-credit course with 3x 50-minute lectures and 4-hour labs every 2 weeks.

Apparently it used to be 4-hour lab every week but the university was too cheap so they changed the system.

Crazy canucks . . . next you'll be telling us that a dollar is only worth $0.50. Sheesh! 😉

I am at college. I have quarters. Quarters are harder to do than semesters, so I don't think you should talk.

I am at college. I don't have quarters. Its because I bought a Pepsi. Now I can't do laundry. 🙁

EDIT: Do you have Pepsi in Canada? I suppose the joke still works with Canada Dry Ginger Ale.

I was stating that from the viewpoint that he was in high school. Down here in FL, only high schools are on quarter systems, all colleges are on semesters. Dunno why you had a problem with that, but whatever.
