Why was a thread locked?

I posted a message in the Hardware forum about resellerratings.com discontinuing their web site. The thread was almost immediately locked with a comment by the moderator to use the "Search feature".

What am I missing? Why was it locked? This site was very useful for making decisions on hardware purchases so this seemed like the most correct forum. I also do not know what the search feature reference is about.

I think the MOD was asking you to do this.

In addition, your post was not hardware related.

I can only sit here and smile broadly, yet silently after clicking that link. :D^n

barryng,

Check the Off Topic forum.

I was going to click the link until I noticed it went to AOL. I'm concerned about pollution on my system.

Don't let Russ fool you about disliking AOL. He has several hundred shares of their stock.

It has been posted atr least 3 timea already by other members... that's probably why it was locked.
I think the Mod's suggestion of a search was to indicate that you should have searched to see if it had been posted already before you posted it again.

They may be the worst ISP but they are profitible. They have figured out a way for people to pay 21.95 for ADS!:Q
