I believe you mean xenocide.

Genocide - The systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group.

I think the human race qualifies...

Xenocide - No entry found for xenocide.

I'll stick with my OP, thanks! :p

Two problems here: it was a gold Omega chronograph, which a) would be much too costly ($2K+) for a blue-collar worker like a stevedore; and b) is mechanical, not electronic, and would not have been affected by EMF.

I noticed the Omega too. WhyTF would an average Joe have such an expensive watch and a nice car? They tried so amazingly hard to make him the working man.

Haha. Genocide isn't really the correct term.. it's more of a national/racial issue. Xenocide is a species/planet wide term coined by sci-fi writers.

It's the Hollywood formula. Regular joes always have fabulous downtown loft apartments and classic cars.

They screwed it up here for the sake of one scene - putting him in the crane. If they had shown him on the ground and given him a Timex, then the only technical issue with the movie would be the fact that it implied Tom Cruise had sex with women...

Xenocide

The term Xenocide is a science fiction neologism that means an act of genocide directed towards an alien species.

Definition of "Neologism":

A neologism is word, term, or phrase which has been recently created ("coined") ?often to apply to new concepts, or to reshape older terms in newer language form. Neologisms are especially useful in identifying inventions, new phenomena, or old ideas which have taken on a new cultural context.
