Like any society, the majority is educated and can back his assumptions with facts to support and validate why war is necessary. In contrast, the uninformed, uneducated are often the loudest, and can be seen ranting unintelligible anti war rhetorics along every street corner (or at least here in berkeley:) ) in between bong sessions while decreasing our property value. Anandtech is no different. While it is obvious that most people here keep up with the news and can make sound judgement, the loudest ones are often the thread starters shouting for peace and an end to all this American attack on poor Saddam and how our airstrikes on Afghanistan was uprovoked.

So without further adieu, i present to you one of the few and far in between pro-war threads necessary to educate poor, uninformed street lecturers like Moonbeam.

edit: a few mispspellings as Moonbeam pointed out :)

You had my respect until you said "Like any society, the majority is educated and can back his assumptions with facts to support and validate why war is necessary."

Yikes, that was just your first sentence!

no, of course not.

Just scrolling through the threads, I see so many anti war threads while it obviously doesn't reflect the majority opinion on the board. so i created this to sorta balance it out.

One day, I might be so fortunate as to have someone start a thread to attack me by name :D

Hmm, where is everyone?

Whenever an anti-war thread pops up, the pro-war people are always right there to call the poster a Liberal or a Hippie, but now that they are given a place to explain why we SHOULD go to war...

...silence.

Kinda makes you think...

oh of course. Welcome to the Berkeley campus- a sprawling city where the population consists of 40,000 students with 99% from the top 10% of their hs. In addition, the average SAT in Engineering is 1450. Yet, every corner has some homeless guy shouting anti-war jargon while all the students pass by. Most people on anandtech are fairly educated also.

then shouldn't you have provided some reason why we should be PRO WAR.

i personally am not against attacking Iraq (i'll never say i'm pro war, I just prefer it to the alternative).

Without providing any reasons yourself? Your original post had nothing but criticism and loud naive slander without any factual or intellegible backing... the same things which supposedly irk you?

Give me a break..

If there is no other better reason to go to war, the fact that the French are against it should be an excellent one. Anything the french do, we do the opposite: A recipe for success.

sure, if you need information, i'll refer you to the calpatriot website where I'm currently the webmaster.

If you can't make a working link, I somehow doubt you can make a coherent case for war.

Very true. Thank goodness they are intelligent enough to not fall victim to the deadly, salted, baked and twisted killer....

i would only support war if there was an imminent danger. like if saddam was just about to launch some nukes or sell them to terrorists or something. i do think the US has a right to war since:
1. gulf war ended in peace treaty and the cease-fire is contingent on iraq following some demands
2. those demands have not be fulfilled
3. un resolution 1441 allowed for war if iraq was in material breach
4. iraq is in material breach

in the end, saddam will never disarm, he will never peacefully leave office. so unless he is assassinated, war is ultimately necessary. i just don't think it's necessary NOW, UNLESS the CIA knows something about Iraq's plans for imminent action.

addition: possibly the desire to enter war now is to go in and take care of business before the summer when it gets hot and stuff.

You really believe Sadaam will be the one killed in the war?

Good one.
