Why u guys can overclock that much ?

I got a gainward gF3 ti-200 golden sample too . I only able to get 230/470 out of it. Why u guys can get 240/500 ??? how u guys did it ?
Are you guys using nvmax or power stripe to tweak it ? I am using winxp ...pls give me your opinion . thanks

Most people here, I'm sure, use one or the other. Overclocking depends on luck. Not every board, processor, and memory chips are created equal. That said, with cooling modifications, you can increase your luck.

emm.. wat kind of modification u talking about ? videocard ?or case ? My case is modified ...i have a 120mm case fan just beside the videocard. so....i think should be cool enough ....

I really wonder why ppl like gainward so much ? i know it can overclock high ...better 2d image ...but it is not really friendly to overclock system ...at least for mine i have to downclock my cpu speed. Is visiontek gf3 ti-200 same as gainward ? not friendly to a overclock system .... ?

I've got my Vtek ti-200 @ 220/500. Don't have the CPU OCed though, so...used Coolbits only, not sure why'd you need anything else unless to go higher b/c that setting maxes out Coolbits.

Good case airflow definitely helps. More than that, you can put a more powerful fan and a larger heatsink on your video cards processor, or even sand down the standard one and apply a more efficient adhesive. Ramsinks are often installed poorly at the factory, so larger ones can be mounted, usually more precisely with your own thermal epoxy. This isn't worth the trouble for most people though, you'll often only gain a few FPS for your work, which may or may not be worth it to you because of warranty issues.

So basically, try to buy second generation cards (meaning the Geforce 2 ti200 over the GTS, or the Geforce 3 ti200 over the geforce 3) where the chips are likely to be on a better fab, and hope for the best. It really comes down to luck.

Like he said it has a lot to do with luck. And I doubt everyone has to downclock their cpu to OC their gainward. My cpu isn't overclocked at the moment so I can't say. But I think you just got unlucky. But it's really not that big a deal, just wait till the GF5's come out.

It's all luck. I haven't made any modifications to my card at all, and my Visiontek ti200 goes to 230/530. I keep it at 215/490 just to be conservative. The memory really surprised me...most vtek cards have problems with high mem speeds, but mine just kept on going.

I'm pushing just about every aspect of my system though. It defintely can be a factor in how high a VC goes.

I guess it's luck. But there's quite a lot of lucky people, I agree.
The Ti200 I have is the cheapest you can get (Palit Dytona GF3 Ti200), it uses 5ns ram and yet I got it to 240/530 with stock cooling. My case isn't even cold, 34C. And my cpu is oc'ed, got that gfx-oc when at 146fsb (XP1600+ @ 1533).
I use PowerStrip to oc with, have always worked for me.

I all depends on luck and the quality of your cooling and components. It also depends on what games you play because some of them don't react as well to overclocking as others do.
