I have read today on Forum one of your opinions and it was that a P4 2,4 800fsb is comparable with XP3000+.
So,i wonder, why to buy AMD?Can you tell me?
For example,in my country xp2800+=205$, P4 2,4 fsb800=180$
What would you by?

only go AMD if you are gonna OVerclock or need a realllly cheap solution. Otherwise go Intel.

Do you plan to run at stock CPU settings? Do you plan to overclock? Have you decided on a budgeted amount?

In the budget+overclocking columns, you can buy an XP1700+ DUTC for $49 shipped (Gameve). It'll overclock past stock XP3200+ performance levels easily. I bought one. Stopped testing at 11 X 205 (beyond stock 3200+) because this one requires a bit more Vcore than my XP2500+, and thus runs a bit hotter.

Hope this helps!

a 1700+ at excaliber run $65. the two i have had from them ran 2400 mhz fine. that is got to be comparable to a p4 3.0 for $65

Based on the pricing in your country Intel looks like an equitable solution.

here in the USA, amd processors are cheaper than intel processors, hence their appeal.

if intel is cheaper in your country, buy intel. a 2.4ghz p4 has a good chance of overclocking i hear. i wouldn't really know where to start as i'm an amd user.
