Why this name "LaFerrari"?

Honestly I like how this new car looks, but I cannot understand the name. I would've preferred F70, as that is in keeping with tradition.

Does "LaFerrari" have any significance in Italian? Because it envokes images of Pontiac Fieros with body kits.
 
I give you, the Fauxrrari! I really have no idea why anyone would do this... you aren't fooling anyone.

The Enzo was much like the Dino.
LaFerrari is also pretty comprehensible. You just omit the brand, as it's already in the name.
That's why it's called that way, because the car is supposed to become eponymous for the brand.

The name is better than MP4-12C, at the very least.
 
Supposedly it makes more sense in Italian. ?? some how "TheFerrari" means something more than just "The Ferrari" when said in a different language. Thats the explanation I heard.
 
as an italian the vibe I get from the car and what the Italian journalists have spewed is they are going for a quintessential vibe on the car. They want it to be THEferrari in loose translation.
