Why there isn't an amd resource center?

Amorgan

Junior Member
Hi to all:

I'm glad to be a member of this forum and hope I could be very useful to the community.

The reason I am creating this thread its because while I was browsing the fronpage of the site, I've noticed that there is an Intel resource center but there is none for AMD. Why is that?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I would gladly appreciate any input on this issue.

thanks in advance.

Why there isn't an AMD resource center??
because you touch yourself at night

Not acceptable in OT and not acceptable here.
You can consider this a NEF post for accounting purposes that has no redeeming value.

See you in a week

i'm guessing it's advertising sponsored

So, would this mean that Anadtech is receiving some sort of sponsoring from Intel?
If so, that would really suck because:

a) The site would be heavily coerced and biased towards their sponsors.

b) Their would be no objectivity in the reviews.

c) The review testers could only use those benchmarks where the sponsor is really good at and ditch those where the competition indeed would beat them.

I would really like some of the admins to clear this doubt whenever they have time.

Thanks guys for all your responses.

I assume there is no AMD resource center because AMD hasn't approached Anandtech and give an offer to provide a separate section with AMD updates.

This type of question is probably best addressed to Anand rather than on the off topic message board.

I'm not sure the reason for it, but I will say that Anandtech has never seemed biased in any of their reviews. They gave some pretty crappy reviews for netburst CPUs and some pretty glowing reviews for AMD64s. They gave great reviews for the AMDX2s and less than great reviews for the Intel "dual core" pentium D systems. They have recently been giving Intel lots of awesome reviews, but it's only because Intel's core 2 duo and later CPU's have been excellent and their Chipsets have been excellent. I know it would be hard to remain impartial when you get your funding from one of the very companies that you are reviewing, but Anandtech seems to do a good job of it.

Perhaps Anand simply has Ethics?

The great part about CPU reviews......there are a shit-ton of them. If you think the ones here would be biased, you can go to.....gasp....another tech site to confirm/refute them!

Huh, I hadn't noticed that tab in all my years reading here. Still, all it really contains are a few links to Intel.com, and a search function of articles on the site about Intel products. Really not that impressive, or conspiracy-worthy...

Once more, thanks for all your replies guys.

I'm really sure Anand won't answer this question because he is a business man. That's why I'm trying to call everyone's attention and make it public.

And yes, I'm with you when you say that "it would be hard to remain impartial when you get your funding from one of the very companies that you are reviewing". It's not the first time that anand was caught cheating on reviews (correct me if I'm wrong).

Anyhow, I'm not here to stir things up in this forum. All I wanted is a plain and simple answer as of why Anand does not have and AMD resource center where people can find reviews, topics, press releases and products just the same way as the intel one. Even lately, people are now starting to assume that Anandtech will be the next Toms Hardware, which is a heavily intel biased site from day one.

Peace to all and God bless all.

PS:
Anand, just hope you are reading this and if you have anything to say, please say it here in public OR write me a PM.
Thx.

I don't know why there isn't a AMD resource center, but from the news and reviews I've read over the years here on AnandTech, I have yet to notice any bias in favor of Intel. All the contributors thoroughly and accurately point out the pros and cons of all the products that they receive, which is why I think it is the best computer technology site I have ever come across.

I'm fairly certain that if you bring up this issue to Anand (or, more likely, one of the other team members, first), they will at least consider putting up a AMD resource center.

Uhh...

1) I've read AnandTech since the beginning, AnandTech has never cheated on a benchmark. Frankly I'm kind of flabbergasted that you would say otherwise. Are you sure you're not confusing AnandTech with some other site?

2) Anand isn't a businessman, Anand is a guy who reviews hardware and has a 3rd party (LMCD Marketing) to handle the business. If you email him, he will probably answer it.

Anand started this website, as a kid, to point out how great AMD processors were better than Intel, more bang for the buck, which was true at the time.

I've read this thread a few times, and looked at the Intel resource center link a couple. Problem is, I just don't get?

I suppose the Intel thingy is some kind of marketing and/or tool, but it doesn't seem very interesting or helpful to me.

I googled "Intel Resource Center" and they are all over the place, lots of sites hosting them. It doesn't appear to be anything special here at AT.

I also googled "AMD Resource Center", couldn't find one anywhere. And it seems to me that AMD would be the one develop any *resource center* - well, since I couldn't even find one I assume they not have done so yet.

So, I'm guessing that you might need to be directing this line of inquery to AMD, instead of AT.

Hi Fern:

I hope I won't offend you with what I'm about to say, but it seems that you are kinda blind if you can't see the obvious.

This pic is from Anandtech's front page:

This other link will show you the contents of the resource center which have full featured reviews and articles done by Anantech:
http://i519.photobucket.com/al...gton_Morgan/Inside.jpg

For some strange reason, I can't use the image tags, instead, you would have to use a direct link for you to load the pics by your self.

As you can see, the lack of an AMD resource center is not an AMD only thing the way you state it.

I'm not sure what you mean here:

As you can see, the lack of an AMD resource center is not an AMD only thing the way you state it.

If you've found an "AMD Resource Center" at other sites, link them. And again, google Intel resource center, they're all over the place.

But in checking the Intel Resource Center thingy again, I think the answer is obvious. As ElFenix suggested it's Intel advertising.

Look again at the first page of the Intel Resource Center. At the top it says:

Latest IT News and updates presented by Intel

Also see the "Featured Intel Content' - all links to an Intel site. Apparently this is some marketing initiative by Intel. Also aparently, AMD doesn't have a similar (paid) marketing program.

I would think this answer your question:

I've noticed that there is an Intel resource center but there is none for AMD. Why is that?
