Probably a Linux user. Anyway, he is wrong about MS charging for multiplayers this go-round. Online servivces will be offered for free. As far as game add ons? I would think they would charge for that, but don't developers charge for PC game addons as well?
I know I pay real money for expansion paks, how bout you?

The guys article would have carried much more weight (if it does at all) if he didn't break off into a rant.

He uses an interesting double standard in that article-

The true breakthrough came with Sony's original Playstation controller, a design so successful that its dual shock hybrid only under went minor changes (pressure sensitive buttons) to carry on with the PS2. The Xbox however initially introduced a monstrous controller with horrendous button placement.

Emphasis mine(words his). The original PS controller was utterly horrid for one very simple reason- no analog control on it at all. All it had was a digital pad and at that time Sony was adamant about every game being in 3D. It wasn't until Nintendo unveiled its' N64 controller with analog stick(and the resultant effect- making 3D games playable) that Sony ran back to the drawing board to fix its horrendous design to make it work with 3D games. They totally screwed up with their initial controllers and any console follower can easily cite this as one of Sony's largest mistakes.

I am certainly not arguing that Duke was one of MS's big mistakes- but very comparable to Sony they realized they made one and rectified it. I have no problem with both of them being bashed or neither of them, but to go back to back sentences rewriting history is rather a joke.

Games that for no other reason then some coding routines or copy protection could run easily on the PC.

This is pure ignorance from someone who doesn't know any better. UMA v NUMA anyone?

No SH!T! And they PAID this fvcking moron to write an articles like this.

And WTF is up with this dumbass line:
As if this was not insult enough Microsoft has the audacity to charge you a monthly subscription (Xbox Live) to play multiplayer games over your broadband connection you already pay for? Yet the same PC game title running on your PC would be free to play multiplayer. Do you see the problem here?
Yeah, the problem is, THE WRITER IS A FVCKING MORON! After a stupid comment like that, I just felt like punching him in the face for just being THAT stupid! Damn, people get paid for writing crap like that?

Yeah, this guy starts off sounding reasonable, but then the whole thing turns into an anti-xbox rant. The way I see it, consoles offer a different experience (at a different pricepoint) than PC's. I presonally prefer playing games on the PC more, but then again my video card alone cost more than double the cost of an xbox so it all evens out.

I think it mentioned "While the Silver accounts can automatically connect to XBL without paying a fee, most of the tasty stuff will be available only with XBL Gold, such as playing online with other players."

silver members can play online on weekends for free. gold members can play online anytime for free. the silver membership still entitles the people whom don't want to pay for xbox live to all the downloadable content as well.

as of right now, if you don't have xbox live, you can't get the downloadedable content, ie, you can't get the new halo 2 maps unless you are an xbox live member. with this free silver membership, not only can you get access to this downloadable content w/out having to pay for xbox live, but you can also play on the weekends for free.

as an avid xbox live subscriber, i can definitely tell you that once a person actually plays on xbox live, it will pretty much sell them to purchase it. i think it's a great strategy for M$ because letting users test out the service for free on the weekends will DEFINITELY win over people for the gold member subscription.

not to mention, this guy who wrote the article i guess hasn't heard of MMORPG's which are mainly for the PC and cost over $10/mo, whereas xbox live costs $50/yr ~ $4.25/mo. xbox live is the best thing to happen to console gaming.

You have a point, however I think when big MMORPG players start getting in the market you'll see MMORPG's where youll have to pay for on top of xBox live, they want to make money after all.

I can't stand the size of Bill's bank account. But I am too dumb for linux (I keep trying though). He does have a point that xbox sells the hardware cheap in the knowledge that you must pay the premium for the games. Still I am certainly considering buying one.

Premium for games? They cost the same as a PC game, or any other freakin' console game. The guy is a moron, plain and simple.

Really? I don't have an xbox, but I thought most games were a few dollars more than pc games.
