Everyone also said the West would dominate the All-Star game this year and that didn't happen.

<< That is the exact samething people said back when the Pistons swept the Lakers. >>

But this could be due to the fact that the Lakers had no Magic Johnson and Byron Scott.
>>

Ummmm Magic missed only one game and the way the Pistons kicked the Lakers a$$ that series, Byron Scott may have helped them win a game or two. But they still would have lost.

I find it amazing how dumb people are when they say the Sixers shouldn't show up.

I guess 1980 US olympic team shouldn't have showed up.
I guess the 69 Jets should have stayed home.
I guess Ali really didn't shake up the world, he should have stayed home as well.
I don't think Villanova should have showed up in 1985 against the Hoyas.
Mutumbo and the Nuggets really didn't upset the Sonics in 95 either. They also should have stayed home.

Thats why they play the games. The Sixers are the only team in the league who does not at anytime have to double team Shaq or Kobe. They play the best defense in the league. They will get the Lakers to play ugly basketball and they will not lay down for the Lakers. The Sixers are that damn good at what they do. They have survived and defeated two teams in the Raptors and Bucks. Two of the best offensive teams in the league. And both teams shot lights out. Still in the end the Sixers won. They are battle tested. They can get blown out one night and it not affect them one bit in the next game. They don't discourage. They will dive for every loose ball and if Iverson's hot no one can stop him. No one. The big three for the Bucks averaged almost 64 a game with Tim Thomas giving them 11 off the bench. In the end still wasn't enough. They have survived massive performances from Vince Carter, in the end still wasn't enough. Oh make no mistake this team the Lakers are going to see will be the best team they have seen this post season. In 11 head to head matchups with Mutumbo, Shaq averages 22pts and shot 49% from the field. He damn sure better put up better numbers than that. If he doesn't there will be a sweep alright. But it won't be the Lakers doing the sweeping. And another thing, Fisher won't average 17 a game against the Sixers. Him and Rick Fox are playing so far over their heads its a joke. The Sixers will shut all that crap down. Oh this is going to be a war. This team the Lakers are getting has the heart of lion. Its going to be ugly. And look for Shaq to start whining. He better work on those foul shots, because he's going to be shooting them quite a bit ;).

Damn Classy...you have me all psyched and crying at the same time. This stuff is better than that speech from Independence Day!

And we all know what a true barometer of playoff basketball the All-Star game is.

Let them try that in game 1, and I guarantee they will be doubling one of them in game two.

<< They play the best defense in the league. They will get the Lakers to play ugly basketball and they will not lay down for the Lakers. >>

That's what we heard about the Spurs before that series. I think you are forgeting the Lakers have one hell of a defense as well.

<< The Sixers are that damn good at what they do. They have survived and defeated two teams in the Raptors and Bucks. Two of the best offensive teams in the league. >>

And it took 7 to do it. Either one of those teams would have been swept by the current Lakers. And they may be high scoring, but those aren't two of the best offensive teams in the league. Not only do the Lakers score, they do it shooting one of the best percentages in the league.

<< And both teams shot lights out. Still in the end the Sixers won. They are battle tested. They can get blown out one night and it not affect them one bit in the next game. They don't discourage. >>

They are going to have to get used to getting blown out in this series.

<< They will dive for every loose ball and if Iverson's hot no one can stop him. No one. >>

Good thing Iverson is only hot like one out of every three games.

<< The big three for the Bucks averaged almost 64 a game with Tim Thomas giving them 11 off the bench. In the end still wasn't enough. They have survived massive performances from Vince Carter, in the end still wasn't enough. >>

They are going to have to survive massive performance from not one but two Lakers. The big TWO for the Lakers are averaging 60 ppg, plus Fisher and Fox are adding 25. Plus, don't forget about Horace Grant who will definetly be a much bigger contributor in this series. This dude just got done playing Rasheed Wallace, Chris Webber, and Tim Duncan, I'm sure Tyrone Hill isn't exactly putting fear in his eyes.

<< Oh make no mistake this team the Lakers are going to see will be the best team they have seen this post season. >>

Yea, an actual NBA team!!

<< In 11 head to head matchups with Mutumbo, Shaq averages 22pts and shot 49% from the field. He damn sure better put up better numbers than that. If he doesn't there will be a sweep alright. But it won't be the Lakers doing the sweeping. >>

Now that is comedy, even you can't believe the Sixers have a chance to sweep the Lakers. That is one hell of a BIG if. Again in this series the key is Kobe Bryant, and the Sixers have no one to guard him one on one. Don't give me that Aaron McKie stuff. I like Aaron McKie, but he has no chance of defending Kobe. The Kings had Doug Christie, and we saw how that turned out. Mutombo will not be free to roam the paint like he did against the Bucks and Raptors because he will have to play some actual defense on a real center.

<< And another thing, Fisher won't average 17 a game against the Sixers. Him and Rick Fox are playing so far over their heads its a joke. The Sixers will shut all that crap down. >>

Fisher probably won't shoot as well in this series, but he will still shoot OK. I'm not counting on 61% shooting from him again, but a nice 48% will work for me. Fisher did average 11 ppg during the regular seasona, anything right around there is fine with me. He has become a legit third option for the Lakers, I don't know why it was a surpise he did well against the Spurs, he was so open every game he should have been making shots. And Rick Fox is not playng over his head. He is averaging 10 ppg which is right about his season average. In fact, all his stats are right about what he averaged during the regular season.

<< Oh this is going to be a war. This team the Lakers are getting has the heart of lion. Its going to be ugly. And look for Shaq to start whining. He better work on those foul shots, because he's going to be shooting them quite a bit . >>

The Spurs series was supposed to be a war too. It was supposed to be a battle for the ages, the clash of the titans, the real NBA finals. In the end it was a slaughter by 22 points per game. Its funny how Sixer fans want to drone on and one about the "heart" the Sixers have, yet act like the Lakers are some heartless bucnch of wussies. The Lakers had plenty of injuries all year just like your sixers, and still had the same record. They have won 5 playoff road games in three of the toughest arenas to play in the league, and looked awesome doing it. The Laker team not only has just as big a heart as the Sixers, they also have a great defese, and 5 times the offense as the Sixers.

1983 was a long time ago. The Lakers aren't the same team and the 76ers aren't either. Lakers in 4.

'nuff said.

Quoted from myself in another post:

<< Portland = All-star team... with no heart.
Sacramento = Heartless! Divac has even admitted he's scared of Shaq... gimme a break.
San Antonio = Great defense!... for me to poop on. Another case of the missing chest muscle.

And those teams all got trounced accordingly. It's not like those series were close. I think the Sixers heart and drive is enough to keep the games a lot closer than those three teams did, but in the end the Lakers are simply too much for them.
