I'm not sure. I consider the original post pretty vacuous, but I've never seen that as disqualifying in the past.

I agree, since it was my thread. I didn't understand the lock at all. The topic posed a valid question and was nothing near the intent of a troll, nor was it vacuous. The hypothetical asked in the title was based on my observations of politics and political candidates over the years, since the media does indeed have a tendency to "eat its own."

Of course, I can understand that this forum is not entirely friendly to what is perceived as bashing things that are left leaning, but it seems a bit hypocritical to have a left/liberal leaning forum only to lock threads that ask tought questions as this one did.

Too late to do anything about it now, and the election appears to make the question moot at this point, but I thought I'd add my observations on the subject, fwiw.
