it has nothing to do with australia. sure. bin laden only wants to screw the US? no, all westernized and non muslim countries.

and it's also called supporting your allies. you saying you don't want US aid if australia ever is in a pinch?

genius.

Two things:

1.) If Australia were attacked tomorrow by a foreign enemy, the United States would come to Australia's aid in a heartbeat because when you're allies, an attack on one nation is an attack on all.

2.) In Bin Laden's eyes, you are an "infidel" too, against whom he is waging his holy war. Care to stand up for yourself?

You understand why your country commitied troops to aid the coalition now? Whether (sp?) you agree or not is another thing...

what im saying is that sending out 1000 soldiers, = 10 U.S seals, and canada is U.S's allie too, so is a lot of other countries, are they helping no, im not saying that australia shouldnt help, im just saying that they could of do more like provide more special forces and sh1t, and guess what, we have sent out 3 F-18s which is just sad:eek:

Canada has already committed 2,000 guys, some F-18's, several frigates and some other crap boats! Oh and JTF-2.

Britain is helping obviously, Germany just committed a bunch of guys...

Most major western nations have offered some type of help!

Despite the fact of the numbers are small, it all adds up.

However, the Australian SAS would be useful too.

1. Australia is a US ally.

You'd expect that an ally would be willing to commit troops, supplies, etc. during a war. Australia is not a safe little enclave in a dangerous world.

2. John Howard is using this to increase his likelihood of re-election.

John Howard was in danger of losing the election until Sep. 11. Now he is using the "security" issue for all it's worth. His economic policies are sound (luckily he did not roll back Labor Party reforms on trade and he instituted many new reforms, e.g. lower income tax and introduction of Goods Services Tax) but some of his other policies are just strange (isolationist towards Asian nations).

Heh- when you say "heartbeat", that could mean up to 2 years yeh? Judging by past performances in wars.

<< Because if your not with us, your against us. >>

That's the approach the taliban have taken. If we're not muslim, we're infidels. Gimme a break with that self-righteous crap.

Well, we do have this little thing called an Alliance with the States.
We don't have much to contribute in terms of manpower, we need everything we have to cover our own borders. We have more coastline than the US and 1/10th of the population.

However our SAS is viewed as one of the best elite groups in the world. I'm sure they'll find something for em to do :)

Ever heard of the "New World Order?" That is how the first President Bush referred to the international cooperation of the Allied coalition against Iraq. Nations support each other, whether it's in the best interest of their citizens or not.

<< Nations support each other, >>

The nations DO support each other.

<< whether it's in the best interest of their citizens or not. >>

So it's acceptable that not all citizens have to happy with it.

Anyone remember the question raised in the film Starship Troopers - "Anyone know the difference between a citizen and a civilian?" -- perhaps we're not ALL citizens.

And please don't put your lack of discipline in learning onto the public school........all they can do is present the information, not make you learn. If your statement was really true, then no one who goes or went to public school could properly spell, but we all know that to be a false statement. So, then it comes down to either laziness or stupidity.
