They bring creativity and innovation to a halt. "no, you can't do that, that's patented!" It's also the reason we're still running on fossil fuels controlled by a giant monopoly.

So wrong, it hurts.

uh....quite the opposite, actually.

And how so? One company decides to patent some silly software feature. Now nobody else is allowed to use it. Microsoft does this all the time.

Or whenever someone comes up with an alternative energy source, guess what, the oil industry patents it to bury it, nobody is allowed to use the idea or improve on it. Creativity gets shot out the window, new innovation gets shot out the window.

Some of these are ridiculous, and most are being violated anyway. Multi-layered firewall architecture? WTF? Bye bye Cisco... Reading these makes me sick. Microsoft can now go and fight that if they want and put tons of products off the market. I was not aware it was this bad until I decided to do the research.

lmao, that's sad. I could see if it was a free app, but the fact that they charge for it... wow. Do people actually buy that? lol.

If that site is reported to google they'll probably take it off. They are violating the ToS by having all that crap at the bottom to try and rank higher.

Wow, holy shit. So Microsoft has patented icons, user interfaces, and color images as of June 2007? Man, it's amazing no one patented those things before...

I have to say I'm with you. Software patents should die. Either that or the patent bureau should be much, MUCH more selective when handing out patents.

Rubycon, what's your beef with it?

There were a lot of accidents with military personnel when the tilt-rotor design was in earlier development. Lots of people still think it's unsafe (I haven't done a whole lot of research on the current state of the tech).

Yeah it's sad. TBH I did not realize it was THAT bad until I did a quick research. I guess they're just letting it slide now, since other OSes have those things, but they could launch a huge lawsuit any time they wish, and pretty much kill Mac, Linux, heck, most handheld devices. It's scary.
