Why the hell does my bank want to see my ID?

I go into a branch of my bank (I have never gone there before), and go to deposit money (checks).

The teller wants to see my ID. I tell her she has to be joking because I have my bank debit card on me and I know the PIN. She tells me that this is for my protection. Of course my ID is in my car located about five feet outside of the front door, but I think to myself that it doesn't fvcking matter. I am going to teach her a lesson.

I tell her to get the manager. The teller is probably 18 years old, and I think she had a "in training" button on.

The manager comes over and asks me how she can help me.

I tell the manager to shove a stack of deposit slips up the tellers ass and that I am going to drive 35 minutes across town at lunchtime to deposit my checks at another bank branch location.

You should have seen the look on the managers face! I taught them a lesson!

Honestly... this is the sad point. I work at a bank where I get yelled at for asking our clients for their ID. I get the same old "I've got $XX,XXX with your bank. What do you mean you need to see ID?" thing day in and day out. Don't be a fool and not have your ID. We do this for your protection because it's our job to protect your money.
