1. The Visa Commercials include cards with Pictures so you don;t need SEPERATE ID iirc.
2. I'm surprised they didn't call the cops on you.

I mean, I give him my card and he just says "I.D." in a forceful tone
What, you can't talk in comeplete sentences?
Ask me nicely, and I might go get it...
To be honest, I'm not one to start any commotion or give anyone a hard time
but this guy was just a jerk and stupid... He didn't even know what I wanted when I said
the "3 taco combo" ... I had to point to to the sign and say #8
Fun fact: Federal Law protects you from card fraud. You are only liable for the first $50 if your card is stolen, if any amount. That's why I laugh at the card companies that advertise how you're only liable for $50 in charges if your card is stolen; every card is like that. It's like a car company advertising that their car has wheels.Originally posted by: xirtam
I wish they always forced the ID issue. My card was stolen and used at a liquor store (before I turned 21, no less), and by the time I got my card cancelled, I had over $200 worth of unrecoverable charges on it.

Are merchants allowed to set a minimum transaction amount for consumers who wish to use their Visa card?
Merchants are prohibited from establishing a minimum transaction amount for all Visa transactions.
Are merchants allowed to ask for identification when using Visa products?
While a merchant may ask for identification if fraud is suspected, it is contrary to Visa policy to require the consumer to show identification as a condition of the sale. If a merchant asks for identification and the consumer is unable or unwilling to produce it, the merchant is still obliged to accept the consumer?s Visa card. Consumers who experience refusal of service based on identification may either call their card issuer to report the problem or call 1-800-VISA-911.
Also put the minimum purchase thing in there cause someone commented about it.

You wouldnt like it to much if someone stole your card and used it at tacobell. That "kid" is only protecting your card, u should thank him for asking for an ID. 😛
As someone who's had three cards compromised:

An ounce of common sense, people? 😕
I find it amusing you post this and this. You'd think after the first time it wouldn't happen again.. but 3 times?
That's exactly what i was thinking. Christ...3 times!? You need to learn how to take better care of your cards.
Clearly you are talking out of your asses without having experience on the matter. Nothing to do with taking care of my cards.
1) An unauthorized test charge of $1-and-change for "10drums.com", a dummy dot-com with dummy WHOIS info, showed up on a card shortly after the only website it was used on reported a security breach. Card number changed.
2) My wallet was stolen out of a jacket in what should have been a safe place, and NO CASHIER CHECKED FOR AN ID WHEN $1000 WORTH OF LIQUOR, GROCERIES, AND CRAP FROM BROOKS PHARMACY WAS PURCHASED. Note also that my name is Arabic so it should have been a bit conspicuous for the white person who used my card (as per surveillance videos) to do this, if not for the complacency in society regarding ID checking. Card reissued.
3) I withdrew money from a compromised ATM in Montreal, which pulled all magstrip info from my and my brother's card... months later a clone was created and used to withdraw money at will (they had the PIN due to the magstrip copy). Simple card reissue didn't do it; all cards on the credit union account needed to be reissued and PIN changed.
Now you tell me what you would have done differently. I got back all my money in all occasions, but the reimbursement process (affadavit at best, police report(s) at worst) sure as hell was not how I'd like to spend my free time. And it definitely would have been a lot more difficult in situation #2 for the thief to operate if anyone gave a sh!t about the preventative measures that are in place to be used, not to be ignored.

Here's a thought to add to your verbal vomit; why do you not STFU and live with it! You are the dick that walks thru the doors each and every f'ing day which we all dread to deal with and screw up our days. You make the dickheaded comments to an employee who has NOTHING to do with the policy, and come here and think you're the best thing since sliced bread! If you are purchasing $3 worth of tacos on a CREDIT CARD and cannot provide an ID, then carry cash next time. Cut and F'ing dry. Or better yet, carry an ID! If you cannot meet these easy as hell terms please remove your lazy incompetent ass from the gene pool and make the US IQ increase. Yeah, maybe the store shouldn't be asking for an ID, but wouldn't you rather have them err on the side of caution or sell food via CC to any Joe Blow off the street? There are more important things to bitch about! Cut and dry!
Simmer down dude,
you'll probably move up from fry cook some day

The point of debit is for the convenience of cash without the cash. IDing would just be dumb because then that convenience is taken away. I seriously doubt that handing them cash requires ID.

The point of debit is to allow the merchant to pass on fees to the costumer and to prevent the costumer from having the protect of credit. There is no reason to use debit unless credit isn't accepted.

What is really stupid is that until this year our VISA cards had a picture and a signature. Now we have a chip instead of a picture because it's suposedly more secure. I don't understand why they would remove the picture...... except they said it was too expensive to keep. 😕

They are IDing you to make sure someone doesn't "borrow" your card, and make purchases, however small. They are doing it to protect you.
I guess his attitude was justified, because you ended up eating at WaaaahWaaaaaah.Originally posted by: deftron

It's freaking Taco Bell. What do you want, a maitre'd with a towel on his arm saying "Pahdon me, sir, would you do me the honour of presenting me with a token that will thus corroborate that you are indeed the gentlemen for whom this card was issued?"Ask me nicely, and I might go get it...

Because there is no such thing as a "3 Taco Combo." This is a common food service complaint. Don't make up your own name for an item and then get pissed off when the person taking your order asks for clarification because THEY want to make sure YOU get what you really wanted.
The bottom line is that you are evidently one of THOSE kind of customers that make working in food service/retail just plain awful, making a big stink over $3 as if you were single-handedly allowing someone to retire early with your massive purchase.

LOL? College IDs have pictures on them. Does that mean colleges are using it as an excuse to raise tuition to cover the cost? 😕
