I dont see why people gripe about shippping here when its the same dammned price (usps priority mail). Also, the term "lower 48 states" makes absolutely no sense, we are one of the "lowest" states, as were right on the friggen ocean. dammned asshats

It's because of all the water, they're afraid of the water! 😉

Because you can't use UPS or Fedex Ground, and it's the most expensive zone to air-ship to.

usps priority mail (air) cost is based on weight and size, not to/from

Uhm, actually no... If i ship a 4lb package from FL to NJ using Priority, its $8 and some change... to cali... $10 and some change...

Location DOES matter.

as long as they pay for the extra freight charges...big deal....I shipped a projector to Hawaii from Canada and it only costed $35...they covered that since the projector was $1K insured

LOL

I think that only applies to places in the world above the Arctic Circle or below the Antarctic Circle, though; not a place like Anchorage.

I would avoid shipping to Alaska or Hawaii, just because it seems more likely that someone would be trying to scam me.

In fact, I actually think I've had two offers from people in Hawaii and I turned both of them down because each time the situation was just too shady. I'm not exactly sure why, but I get the feeling that it would be "easier" to scam someone becuase it seems like it would be so much harder to do anything about it. I know that sounds kind of odd, but then again when I actually visited hawaii people were like "oh my god whatever you do don't leave anything in your car when you park" so maybe it's just the state pasttime... 🙂

Yeah, but a number places that ship USPS (based on ZIP Code) will not ship to Alaska or Hawai or add $10 on for added handling, even though it does not cost more. I chalk it up to greed and lack of geography lessons.

It applies to the Fairbanks area though.
