Why the hell are batteries so damn expensive?

Went to Walgreens and bought a pack of two CR2016 Energizer lithium batteries and a 4 pack of Walgreens brand AAA's. $12 and change. Cripes thats a lot of money for 6 batteries. What's the deal? Is lithium getting more scarce?

All spur of the moment accessories from B&M stores are expensive. See: hdmi cables etc. Next time you should plan ahead and purchase online in bulk. 🙂

Batteries like that should be bought online. 🙂
$0.45 ea. Panasonic.
$0.38 ea. Energizer.

Probably best to get some other things too though, as it looks like these batteries only ship UPS or FedEx ground, so that might add a bit to the overall cost.

(And get yourself some Eneloops too. 😉)

my friend put batteries in the fridge to extend their life. does that really help???
i thought the cold was reducing battery life in those electric cars

My local Walgreens had 8 packs of D batteries on clearance for $3.79 the other day. Sure they are the crappy store brand but that's fine for my uses.

Get the Costco 48 pack for $18 next time your there

Costco rules.

Lithium batteries are always expensive though. Especially the rechargable ones. I started importing them direct from Hong Kong for my RC stuff. Only pays if you buy a lot though.
