Why the hell am I not to be blessed?!

I just got back from my math class where something very peculiar happened. About ten minutes into the class, I sneezed. That wasn't too weird because my allergies have been bad lately.

About 30 seconds later, a girl sneezes and I kid you not, 5 or 6 people (combination of both male AND female) in unison say "Bless you!". I can live with that. This girl is attractive and probably has some friends in the class. Then another girl on the other side of the room sneezes. 3 or 4 more DIFFERENT people respond, "Bless you!". Well, this girl is pretty nice too, so I guess she would know some people to bless her. About 15 minutes after that, some random guy in the front of the class sneezes. Yup, about 2 or 3 people said 'Bless you', although not quite as loudly this time.

I'm thinking, W T H? Why the hell do I not deserve to be blessed? Is it because I'm so damn holy as it is, I can't POSSIBLY be any more blessed? Or perhaps because I attend a large university, I am already more blessed than others?! Oh wait, NO! Because all these people attend the same university, so why the hell are they not blessing me along with them?!

I thought it was pretty funny actually. When the girl sneezed like right after me and everybody chanted 'bless you', one of her friends chuckled. I can only assume it's because she noticed the same thing I did. I was half hoping I would sneeze again and if nobody said 'bless you', I could be sure they were trying to damn me.

Isn't it sad when little things like this are the funniest part of your day? I would have laughed had it been appropriate 🙂

Usually the first sneezes don't get eh "bless you"s you were oh-so-hoping to get.

But a belated "bless you" to yo if it makes you feel any better. 😉

That would have been pretty funny. I was thinking about doing that but I really don't know these people too well so I'd rather not be known as that idiot who thought it was funny nobody said bless you.

There is 40,000+ other students. The most you could have pissed off at one sitting is 500.

 
Unless your a chick why the hell would you want some dude next to you saying "God bless you", then proceed to hold your hand and ask you if you are ok and need a kleenex.

I'm more worried about becoming a social outcast in the class rather than pissing them off. There's only about 25 people in my class and they're all in the same program so they pretty much know each other. They're good people, unlike some of the other classes I have....*cough*computerscienceweirdos*cough*

It's more of a courtesy than anything else. Like I said, I just thought it was amusing. 🙂
 
Why does it matter? Personally, I have always found it annoying in class when someone sneezes and EVERYONE has to say "Bless you"

Next time you sneeze and no one says anything, scream out 'God Bless Me!'. I find that works out quite well.

probably went like this:

you sneezed and someone thought.. I should have said bless you, but it is too late now. So when the next person sneezed they said it. and then everyone joined it and blessed all the sneezers. But you were forgotten.
