I am 5 ft 7 in, 15, male, and weighs just 100 lbs. I eat A LOT of stuff, especially fatty stuff (peanut butter, chips, fried chicked, etc). I love food and love eating. but, no matter how much I eat, I just can't gain a little backup fat.

I think I am being dangerously skinny here. Any way to get fat? Eating a lot of fatty food doesn't work for me for some reason...

Want some of mine? I'll send you 20 lbs, how's that sound?

I'll tell you what worked for me, though:

1) Pizza
2) Fast food
3) Hostess fruit pies

That and going from throwing freight to a job where I sit on my ass 9 hours a day.

Ah, age will change all that, don't worry!

Mr Isla was a string bean when I met him... it's been 10 years and now he has to watch what he eats... bwahahahahaha!

I'll take your metabolism any day you lucky bastard. Mine is pure crap and I have to eat healthy (I haven't touched sugar in 9 months.. TRY THAT) and exercise and I'm STILL not done losing the extra weight. (almost though, thank God...)

Yeah you better be thankful that you're thin.

Instead of aiming to get "fat" why not try working out and get "buff" :D

I'm 5' 8" 136lbs and I thought I was bad! I know how you feel man... it's not easy for people like you and me. But fear not there's hope! You outa start lifting if you don't already and eat a lot of foods high in protein and carbs. A combination of a weight training, larger diet, and protein shakes has gotten me decent gains. At one point I gained 10 lbs in one month. Well all I can do is wish you luck!

I started working out more and that helped me. A years ago I was 5' 8" and 135lbs. I'n now a little bulkier and weigh between 145 - 150lbs. Still a little underweight but some more basic exercise should help. Do some light weight training.

Peanut butter has very little saturated fat - all of it's "good" fat - it's actually good for you. No need to fear getting fat off of PB.

Instead of trying to get fat, try lifting weights. Although you might not see all the fat on you, all the "bad" stuff is building up inside of you. High cholesterol, clogged arteries, the worse you eat now the more you are at risk for a heart attack or some health problem later on in life.

LIGHT weight training? 100 pounds? this guy need a little more than light weight training.

You need to do this:

-Go on the "seafood" diet. You SEE food, you eat it. :)
-Get into some high intensity weight training. That will help you bulk up and get some meat (muscle) on those bones. High intensity = take the heaviest weight you can handle (even if you can only do a few reps) and work until your muscles fail completely.

You could stand to gain 40-60 pounds easily depending on your frame size. I'm only 4" taller than you and I weigh TWICE AS MUCH and I don't even look that fat anymore. I want to drop about 15 more though.

What kind of reps should I be doing if I am just starting out? How many lbs, times per day, what kind, and how often?

rhinox: you have to find the weight your most comfortable at. Work out 3 times a week.

Now, do you want to slowly gain toned muscles or do you want to bulk up quickly (can always "tone" it later)?

If you're just starting off, you should aim for around the 12-15 rep range. It's recommended that you work each body part once a day, 3-4 days a week. That way you get your muscles ready for the intense training. (working one body part a week, 3 sets a body part) And don't overdo it - one time per day. (Slow down there cowboy) You should probably see a trainer who can get you started on a beginner program. (They should be able to give you better advice than we can)

Hey i'm same way - i was 6'1'' and 140 when i got to college and i eat bad stuff like a mofo, and lots of it...

My sophomore year i started working out, using creatine (use it right and it'll work wonders) and got up to 165 in like 2 months... Working out increased my appetite too so that led to part of that gain...

Yes I know the creatine contributed also by adding water weight but I think it can be a useful tool if u use it right... (take it only on days you work out, and drink lots of water)

Be thankful you can eat whatever you want, eventually the metabolism will slow down and you'll have to watch yourself... But the more lean muscle mass you build, the better off you'll be...

I'm 5'10, 145. I don't have time for the gym, so here's what I do every evening:

40 pushups without stopping
100 crunches without stopping
30-40 reps of weights on each arm... start off with 20 tough and then lower the weight 25%, then 50%
I started doing handstand pushups too. Can only do one so far ;) rofl
Every weekday I get two miles of scooting on my razor, decent cardio

I've put on about 8 lbs of muscle since last semester. looking to do some more. it's not superfast, but sustainable.

If you want to gain fat that is super easy, instead of eating 3 meals a day, eat 5 meals a day. Currently you must have a very fast metabolism, so all the calories you take in gets burned up! To beat that you need to eat more, eat more and eat more, let there be more calories than your body can burn up and you will be fat :) By the way, when you think of calories, think of steak, think of milk, think of weight gainer products! By the way, if you want to gain muscle mass, then you better start hitting the gym, cuz girls won't dig a fat beer belly, better start working on that six pack or that chest!

Make sure you don't have an enlarged thyroid gland, the one that sits right above your adams apple. The tyroid gland is responsible for controlling your metabolism as well as other important things. When I was like 12 I couldn't gain any weight no matter what i did, then during a routine physical the doctor noticed a slightly enlarged thyroid gland and gave me an injection of something. Anyways the thyroid was back to normal in notime and I started gaining weight.

Skinny people that gain weight just tend to get a funny looking E.T. gut anyways. Thats all that ever happened when I tried to bulk up until it came naturally. I was never skinny but wanted to get bigger and never really could without realy eating like a horse and working out.

Trust me,if you just gain weight and don't work out you will just get that E.T. gut so just wait until your metabolism slows down,it will happen sooner then you really want it to. Trust me. Don't worry, you will get some weight on in your teens or possibly not until your twenties. But it will happen.
