Why the heck does a 2001 GT have an air scoop, and a 2001 Cobra does not?

Wouldn't the cobra be more likely to need the extra breathability?

the cobra's scoop makes it more aerodynamical and it also makes room for the bigger engine ;)

Oh I see....

Well then.

Uhmm
Idiots.

Why the hell fill it with plastic if it's going to be there?
Even if it doesn't help performance it won't hurt it either will it?

Toph...I'm pretty sure the GT and Cobra both have 4.6L 16Valve V8s with SOHC....I don't think the Cobra's engine is bigger.

The Cobra-R has the 5.4L I believe....but not the regular Cobra.

i don't know their reasoning behind it. save costs i don't know, i couldn't see how it would hurt it.. more cool air.

Hey you guys, dont you know the plastic air scoops adds 10 hp, per scoop??? Not to mention the cobra sticker adds 50!!!! hehe..

Ford learned that trick from the ricers.

Yes indeed you are right.

It has twice the valves of the GT and DOHC instead of Single.

My apologies.

It's still not 5L ;)

The Cobra-R actually outhandles the Z06, and I believe it's faster.

But you can't buy a Cobra-R, it's a race-team only car. Can't remember the division they race in, but you can't get one unless you are one of those race teams.

Ford made 500 for the 2000 model year (or was it 2001?) that were all purchased before it ever hit the dealers. One is always tearing up the streets where I live. (That's the second time someone's corrected you about Cobras - you better shut your mouth while your ahead Noraki) ;)

Ford only made 300 for MY2000. There is no 2001 Cobra R.

Either way, there are many, many other cars I'd rather have for that price, that are not only faster, but have class, and style.

my $.02

LOL! Alright then maybe I should. I tend to focus more on the GT than the Cobra. I'm not much of a Cobra pro ;)
The race-team only thing actually came from a friend of mine, I don't even know if the Cobra-R actually outhandles a Z06 or not, just going on what Mike tells me.

But maybe you're right I'll just stop talking about Cobras ;)
The only "Cobra" I know anything about is the 67 GT500.
