and personally, I would rather be armed. All gun prohibitions do, and restrcitions is take guns away from the legal owners. And being a criminal, you are not going to legaly register a gun for a crime anyway.

I'm not an anti-gun advocate, but I really don't think that the average person can handle a weapon. Even with years of training, some marines are still too stupid to hold a weapon.

Well considering your title states that the General Populace should not be allowed a gun - but you're not anti-gun - how does one obtain a gun fairly?

I'm more afraid of idiots with cars than idiots with guns.

I think everyone should have to have a permit for every kind of firearm, be it a gopher shootin' .22, shotgun, handgun, muzzle loader, anything.

the point of having guns is not safety from other people, it is for safety from government. if necessary, armed revolution/resistance can happen. as we should have all learned last century, the greatest threat to a society is not foreign governments invading, it is their own government.

Despite the fact that basically all the laws passed to provide gun control have had zero effect on crime. The only real reason to pass yet more laws is to make ownership more difficult for law abiding citizens.

Do you know why the second ammendment was put there? Our founding fathers must be rolling in their graves at the "conservative' Bush agenda. (read "Patriot" act - the most unpatriotic law ever written)

I think most of the last 150 years would have them rather upset, not just the last 5.

Who needs training in order to own a lethal firearm? Everyone is intelligent; they'll all instinctively know how to store and use a gun safely...

If you think people need to go through extensive training before owning a killing machine, I think all cars should be removed from the road because they serve no purpose other than to kill children and other innocent people. Look at the Veyron: they've made it really fast with a low front end specifically to outrun and kill children who are often too nimble for regular SUVs.

This is a bit elitest on your part. Who died and made you John Wayne?

Using an ordinary firearm is not rocket science
