Why the French Open is so long

Am I seeing the right thing?

A courtroom scene? What does that have to do with the french open? why is that funny?

It's not a courtroom, it's a court. It's not really funny either. Very predictable and playing on a joke that's been told a million times now. It's just that the natural reaction now of many of these guys whenever they hear "French" is to laugh.
