what's the difference between the normal BEFSR41@$80 and their NR041@$40?

why would linksys put out 2 routers at $40 difference that does the same thing with almost the same features??

edit: the NR041 has a $10 rebate from linksys ending 11/09 which brings the price down to $29.99

The NR041 seems to have more detailed control, more like a hardware firewall (you have logging capability for instance). So it's a more full-featured device. The NR041 also supports 10/100Mbps on the WAN port, while the BEFSR42 only supports 10Mbps.

To get specs for the NR041, you have to use the Network Everywhere site, not Linksys. It appears that Linksys has created a spin-off brand, probably so they can have the "more business-like" Network Everywhere brand, and the "home-use" Linksys brand (notice one has a more "sleek" shape that appeals to home users, while one looks more like a business-class server/router/whatever. The higher speed on the WAN port also would position the NR041 as usable for segmenting an internal FastEthernet network.
