Why, thank you Yahoo, such a helpful search engine (Firefox update)...

what does everyone use for browsers now?

Firefox :^D

I like my software libre and customizable. I have Chromium installed, but I never use it. I usually give that to my daughter when she needs to use my machine. I have too many security features on Firefox, and she doesn't know how to deal with them.

Edit:
Slightly more helpful maybe...

In about:config set this to true

Code:
browser.search.openintab

When you type a search into the searchbox. it'll spawn a new tab, and not overwrite the page you're on.

...or you could just hold the Alt key when you press Enter to submit your search.

With the about:config tweak, alt+enter searches using the current tab. I guess it depends on the preferred default behavior. I want to use a new tab 99% of time.

The new one search box sucks. I liked the context search on right click. I could quickly switch to different search engine and search text selection in it.

To revert the searchbar to pre-Firefox 34 functionality -

#1. Enter about:config in the addressbar (urlbar).

#2. Note 'warning notice' and proceed.

#3. Enter for browser.search.showOneOffButtons in the top left searchbox. Right click this entry, select 'Toggle' and toggle to false.

#4. Restart the browser for the change to take effect.

#5. Change the default search engine, if desired, in the usual way.
