Why th heck do some avi files not play?

Seems like most video players will play most video files these days, but I can't get a South Park avi to play in anything. Am I missing a codec? How do I get the correct one?

Could just be corrupted.

Your probably just missing a codec, as for which one that's hard to tell. Try the nimo pack, update your divx/xvid etc

Download something called gspot codec sniffer. That should tell you which codecs you're missing.

NO thereason you only get audio is because the video needs a codec like DIVX or Xvid

download the Defiler pack its better then Nimo

don't use nimo or any other pack, they break more than they fix. get gspot and get the needed codec from http://www.doom9.org/

Unless I am usign gspot incorrectly, I think it is telling me that the avi file is audio only. Does anyone else get the same mesage for that file?

i've found files that are tagged as an avi but are realy just an mp3. try renameing it .mp3 .wave and see if it plays.
