my answer to that is, i would have noticed him in distress and would get him help before he did anything irrational.

for me, knowing them would make all the difference, its not like cops and firefighters are doing it because they care. they're doing it so they can get a pat on the back from thier buddies and perhaps a promotion.

i had a feeling you would bring that up. for something as big of a tragedy as the WTC or as little as house fire with a baby inside, i beleive those are done out of care and because its thier job. but to talk down a suicidal person, is completly different. they cant blame themselves if they couldnt talk the person out of jumping, it was their own decision.
