I think people want to see someone like themselves to be elected. This gives them a good feeling. However, I can't say any politician is like an average person they are well connected and definitely in the elite. Anyhow, if they want to get elected they have to at least pretend to be one of the average joe because the average joes holds majority of the votes. Even an act is still a necessary act for any politician to perform. I don't think any of the presidential candidates are average by any standards, they are all overachievers and the fact that they are running for prez/vp means they are all ambitious enough not want to be average but smart enough to recognize they have to pretend to be one of us to get our votes. Think about it if you are a prez candidate you will do exactly the same thing. Yes, pretending and lying is a bad thing, but to loose the election is probably worse. so +1 for the very-unaverage-average politicians.

Wheres the problem?

The problem has been in the White House for the last 8 years.

Now Republican John (I voted 90% of the time with Bush) and the connected Republican lobbyists and old guard who run his campaign want to take back Washington . . . from themselves.

The problem is that there are too many stupid people like yourself more than willing to believe all this.

What % did Barack Husein Obama vote against the president?
Obama voted against Bush about 60% of the time in 2007 according to FactCheck.

I found it, it looks like Obama voted with Senate Democrats 97 percent of the time in 2007 and 2005 (how do they account for the 100+ present votes?), so much for bringing the party's together and being a different type of politician. Same old democrat different wrapper?

I'll look but do you have a link?
Sure, here's the link.

The FactCheck article links to Congressional Quarterly, though, which requires a log in, so I can't verify the info directly from the source.

What the hell is wrong with you people making this ridiculous argument? We want change from George Bush. That's what voting 97% with the Democrats means.

changing from Bush to a white house that's a rubber stamp for whatever congress wants isn't much of a change.

As a Democrat I seriously wonder when my fellow Democrats are going to wise up.

Do you guys honestly think calling half of our countrymen idiots, morons, mouth-breathing rednecks, hillbillies etc. etc. is going to make us look good? And you wonder why people don't vote for our candidates?

You know if we lose this election you have only yourselves to blame.

I've understood the whole "change" slogan to mean away from the normal Washington partisan politics, but you think the slogan means "I'm not Bush"?
