"Having been involved at it at a bottom level, my impression was the Obama ground game was heads and shoulders above Romneys"

That's not saying much. 75% of GOP base would have told you Romney's campaign sucked all summer. They were tigers vs other GOP in primaries and then became squishy weenies when confronted with Obama's MSM (Media Shield for Melanin)

But I must have read or seen literally dozens of stories as to how Romney's team had a great ground game this time around, lots more enthusiastic, etc. Tends to show how reporters are frequently too lazy to dig and publish what is fed to them.

All this says is that a) Romney lived in a bubble with poor advisers and number crunchers or b) he's a liar.

We should be glad he lost.

I get this picture in my mind of Mitt running down the street chasing the Secret Service after he lost and they were leaving.

What's wrong with Repubs is what's wrong with America in general- everybody tells the boss what he wants to hear because they're afraid to do otherwise. So when the boss gets it wrong, he gets it very, very wrong, catastrophically wrong. That's GWB & the Ownership Society, Wall St & their Gaussian Cupola, Neocons & their Baghdad Year Zero plan. The Romney campaign is really no different, particularly when there's big money to be made crooning in the boss' ear...

What we're witnessing is failed ideology failing, over & over, because those who espouse it somehow think they're winning, or will win because they couldn't possibly be wrong... It's more like religion than politics for them.

When congress reconvenes, they'll double down, again, come out swinging. It's all they know how to do. It's who they are, who they've become in their long march to the nether regions of right wing politics.

You're gonna win, Mitt, you're gonna win! But only if you get us more money!

Bottom line; dismiss arithmetic and statistics, and thereby stay ignorant of the validity of these subjects, and you're simply always going to be a loser.

We have lots of these types of losers on this board, many of them predicting Romney landslides when in fact we got the opposite.

Project Narwahl:

Strategic Vision

Wow on that Strategic Vision analysis. Pretty much every single one of those paths came through. Only N. Carolina fell out.

'We can do it any of these ways....or we can do it all of these ways!'

I watched the video link another member posted about how Japan could have won WWII, and think specifically of the Battle of Philippine Seas and how radar and the VT fuse annihilated the Japanese:

Amazing how Navy SEALs and Military support Romney, when this bozo would lead them into certain slaughter...

see this guy Zac Moffatt? Romney's campaign paid his firm 65 million dollars to head his digital campaign i.e. website design, apps, etc. Romney's website was called out for copying the Obama website, misspelling America on the official Romney app, photoshopping a crowd on instagram. Moffatt also wrote an app called "project ORCA" which was supposed to track voting/precincts during election day and report back to HQ and it failed miserably.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...roken-app-cost-thousands-votes_n_2109986.html

Romney gave him thousands of dollars in bonuses.
It was a pathetic campaign of overpaid yes men who "unskewed" polls and sucked his campaign of money such that Romney was always constantly doing fundraisers. Romney and his family may have been shocked on election night but these people knew what they were doing and robbed him blind. Sorry Mitt.

Romney never saw it coming b/c of his immense ego and b/c his cushy life had seen no real defeats before. He has a sense of entitlement that more than matches any food-stamp project life he campaigned against. His refusal to write a defeat speech is a testament to these things.

I don't see how anyone thought he was going to win. Anyone who could see straight knew that he was really really full of it and had no principals at all. I don't care for Obama, but the better man definitely won.

Don't kid yourself. Had Obama lost (sans Sandy or whatever other reason), his staff would have been scratching their heads just the same.

Nevertheless, I can't knock either side for optimism in the eve of the election. Both staffers talked a confident game but truly smart folks knew that nobody would know until the ballots we counted.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Except in this case, foresight was pretty close to 20/20 too and some people just refused to see it. "Truly smart folks" were not in fact throwing up their hands in the air and saying nobody would know until election day. Smart people with the right background knew from the available data that Romney's chances were pretty poor, and smart people without the right background knew enough to listen to the smart, informed people.

The real question is did anybody learn anything? Is the next election still going to be filled with the "unskewed polls" crowd?

For what it's worth, the actual unskewed polls guy acknowledged he probably should have used math and facts instead of bullshit (paraphrasing)...we'll see if that's the case across the board though.

Fvcking idiots. It's a good thing a guy with such a pathetic command of reality, with such inept advisers, never won and was soundly beaten. We cannot as a planet allow such inept people at the helm.

We can only hope they are so that they lose again and decide to become normal fucking people and turn their backs at these right-wing tea party uber conservative nutjobs that pervade their party.

No way...we need to hope that they embrace the tea party or at least get replaced by it. The beast has awoken and it is angry. Democrats need to feed it with the bodies of the GOP.
