Why people hate realplayer so much?

What really burns me up is how, during the install process, when it's asking you which spam email newsletters you want to sign up for, the first several boxes are unchecked, but, if you scroll way down you find that the last few are checked. They're obviously betting that the average person will see that the first ones are unchecked and assume that the rest are too...

And it sets itself to be hella intrusive. You turn off the stupid start centre, play one RM file and Real Player automatically resets itself to load the start centre on boot up again (even if you have it disabled in msconfig).

I think the real reason is that they once included illegal spyware, and still like to implement spyware, be careful what you agree to...

Real player and adobe acrobat are two of the most frustrating pices of software i have ever used.

Realplayer is just wayy too bloated and takes way too much time to actually open a file. IE crashes all the time when i open a .pdf that is larger than 100kb...

I have never understood people's vitriol toward Real Player. I use RP8 Basic (from oldversion.com) to listen to Car Talk, and have never found it to be a problem. I do hate Real One, but I am OK with my limited use of RP8.

And the whole idea of streaming video sucks. It is useless on dial up if you want to see more then a streaming slide show and with broadband the files are always like an inch big on my monitor with crap for sound.

Not that I know of, but what you can do is download realplayer and then install Media Player Classic (which is just WMP 6.4 but better) and I think it'll take over instead of real(sh!tty)player.

it does have a nice program called RealPresenter, which allows you to import a Powerpoint presentation and record your voice to go along with it,

thats basically the only good application i've found for it....other than that i dont like it
