You can try to justify it all you want. There's no reason why I should be scoring headshots on other players that have already run behind cover. There's no reason why I should be scoring headshots on other players when my reticule isn't on their body, much less their head. There's no reason why a Heavy can still hit you through walls after you've turned a corner, or why a Pyro can't hit you when you run directly through their flame. You know something is wrong when you think the kills YOU are scoring are bogus.

I agree.

I sometimes wonder why if I aim in front of a Scout running across the barracks in 2Fort and shoot at air, they'll die.. I was like.. wait, is that lag or what? And I always die when I am behind cover.. You'll even see my body behind the cover and I'll be dead. >_< It's so stupid.

You guys are hillarious. Seriously, what do you expect? You're talking about split seconds when the Internet is involved. You send a packet probably a dozen hops to their server which processes it and sends it back over those dozen hops where it is processed by your client. And this happens millions of times each round. You are completely ignorant of networking let alone Internet technology if you're expecting instantaneous feedback.

The reality of today's technology is that you need to choose. Lag compensation or hitbox predication. The circumstances you guys are mentioning happen, what, 2% of the time and only when a high ping player is involved. That's way more acceptable than not being able to trust your own aim because the other player may not be in the actual position you see him at.

Valve wrote a whole paper on this that you can read if you possess the curiosity to actually know something about what you're talking about.

Usually the people complaining are the people who still haven't figured out how to play.

Thanks for the passive-aggressive insults and tiny-penis attitude, it takes the guesswork out.

I guess all those other shooters I've played that had no noticeable hitbox problems are doing it all wrong. I'll start sending out memos with Valve's article attached ASAP!

Anyway, this is degenerating into a "u sux at teh gamz n ur stoopid 2" thread so I'm taking my toys and going home.

I'd love a list of these games. Thanks very much.

Ghost Recon and Raven Shield come to mind. I played those a lot (lots of tournament play in GR, so I guess that means I can tell everyone else they suck, right?) and never noticed any oddities.

Battlefield series seems to have some hitbox issues too due to attempting to compensate for lag. Nothing you can do but just try to have fun anyway :p It is annoying though to see a headshot go unrewarded.

I just want the cone of fire for the pyro to align with where you actually see the fire.

Lag/hitbox really isn't an issue for me.

Shouldn't lag compensation adjust itself based on your ping? If you're playing on a lan with 0 ping, the hitbox and model should match perfectly right?
