Why PC gaming overwhelms me...

I have too many damn games! On steam alone I have 115 games. I have about 40 boxed games and a huge collection of my old win 3.1-95 games, as well as my classic dos game collection.

And don't mention how Starcraft still consumes my life.

FML.

Yea, I have about 125 boxed games. All mint condition. Only a few on STEAM, and ONE that I downloaded from Gamestop.

And out of all of those, probably only finished 40 of them.

Hell, just recently....I finished PREY !!

I bought around 50 games about 1 month ago...so far attempted to finish at least crysis, sins, titant quest...and that's not including another 40 in my collection 🙁

I like collecting stuff 😛 (that's the problem..)

I find myself in the same boat... all those Steam and GoG sales, midweek madness and week-end special deals, and so on, games ending up at $5, $10, $30, it's often more than tempting and I do fall for my impulsiveness at times, and so I haven't bought a game in the past three months, but prior to that I bought nearly eight games in a period of a single month, all ranging in price from a mere $5 to $40. I haven't counted them all to update my "games list" but as of now I must own around 170+ games, and around 30+ of them were bought in the past six months or so.

Suffice it to say, when they're all installed, patched and modded to my tastes and ready to be played I just don't know what to do, which one(s) to play, and I often end up sticking with maybe four of them at most at any given time and play them for one or two months non-stop, then I switch with others and the cycle repeats, but I did buy some games that I have yet to play even if they are installed. So, in other words, yes it gets overwhelming. The best way to deal with that in my opinion, at least for me anyway, would be to install just the ones I know I want to play and finish, then uninstall them and install new ones and play them.

I wouldn't imagine having a collection of 300+ games, or even more... at that point it must simply become a collection habit and hobby, I wouldn't have enough of my life time to play so many games, and I have other priorities and obligations as well in life outside of gaming, but even if I dedicated my life to play games... nah, I wouldn't be able to.

you have to just learn to stick with a few you like.
i used to do that, playing every other game, rarely ever finishing any.

Try Galactic Civilizations III. It's MOO's spiritual successor and a great game just like MOO2 is.

There is no Galactic Civilizations III.
And Galactic Civilizations 2 is a pale imitation at best.
Imperium Galactica 2, on the other hand, is excellent but doesnt run well under Windows XP.
Pax Imperia 2 runs alright but isnt much of a game.
Space Empires doesnt fill any requirements of mine.
Sins of a Solar Empire is good, but didnt drag me in and keep me.

I have 100+ unopened boxed games, mostly from years of haunting Big Lots and such stores to find bargains. I even found Wizardry 8 in a PC game bin in Gamestop.

My little private collection.

The sad thing us PC gamers with massive game collections are the majority, but we all get labeled as pirates. I have over 60 PC games laying around in steam and in a bookshelf.

Count me in with 40+ unopened games waiting to be played. I could easily stop buying games for a few years. Hell, I might wait until I can get a card with the performance of a 5850 for $100.

I've over 50 games on Steam - I mainly use Steam to buy new games nowadays - but I've installed only about 15 - out of those I play maybe about . . . 5?

Haven't even beat Half Life . . . 1!

Sheesh I have fallout 3 game of the year edition and cod mw2 thats it. If I had 100+ games the ole lady would beat the heck out of me then leave. I have ADD like no ones business, i have trouble deciding what game to play now lol

Pisses me off actually how many games I lost disks and keys to over the years. Hundreds. Now steam keeps track of them nicely for me. Miss the days of discovering indy titles at the local computer shops and trying stuff out on shareware.

Back in the day I would finish a game if I bought it. Nowadays time is so precious if it doesnt get me right away its dead to me......

IF I had time there would be about 5 games I would play to completion in a few sittings. SUPcom 2, Call of Juarez, Fallout 3GOTY, Bioshock 2, Assasins Creed 1 and 2 and Mass Effect 1 and 2.

Do you have Master of Orion 2?
Cuz thats all I play anymore. I need nothing else.
This game is really great!

A few monts ago i started playing it again in multiplayer with a friend 2-3 times a week.

I can recommend the VDC Mod, especially for Multiplayer!

I don't have that many games, but I still have a lot. I have about 20 for the PS3, 20 for the PC, and even a couple for the PS2 that I haven't finished (some I haven't started) yet.

I've had to force myself to stop checking out Steam for their deals that seem to be happening constantly now. They really have tapped into my obsession with buying cheap games, so much that I was spending more on games on sale as a whole than I was on regularly priced games.

Starcraft still consumes your life.

The sad thing is that this is true for me....with the SC2 beta at least.

Now that the beta has passed I'll finally get around to working on my backlog. I've got a Word document with about 20 games or so on it. My goal is to have that list whittled down to 50% of what it is now by the end of summer. We shall see. :awe:

I guess I'm a minority here.

There are many games I want to play but I only play one game at a time, and rarely I have any sort of physical/digital back log.

It's very difficult for me to play multiple games at the same time because I would not be able to keep up with remembering the controls/key bindings 😛

You and me both.
