Believe it or not, what's missing from the current shout-fest over guns and gun control is the voice of gun owners.

Clearly, whoever wrote that isn't on facebook. I've had to put people on ignore because of the slew of ridiculous arguments they put up about guns and gun control.

I'm a gun owner and, for the most part, I've been staying out of the argument. I don't really care if they ban assault weapons or introduce magazine restrictions (again) and I HOPE they eliminate the gun show loophole that allows people to buy and sell guns privately without going through the background checks that everyone else MUST submit to by law for purchasing a weapon from a retailer.

An argument I hear is "why should we make it easy for someone to shoot dozens of times without reloading" we should ban "high"(read: standard) capacity magazines because someone might shoot up a school.

Okay, so we're going to ban something because someone MIGHT go crazy and it would lead to more extra death. So then hypothetically we should ban any car that can go more than 10 miles an hour or weighs more than 3000lbs because the driver MIGHT have an accident and kill people. We're going to flog the Bill of Rights because of something someone may or MAY NOT do?

There are hundreds of millions of guns in this country. They are NOT used for crime daily. How is it that there are 300,000+ AR15's out there that aren't used in shootings? I have several guns and much to the suprise of myself and the entire population of the united states, i have not killed anyone. So why restrict what I can do? Besides, the argument is about "30 rounds to go deer hunting" it's about 30 rounds to protect my family.
