Most of the time you don't have a problem touching your own face. You can take the palm of your hand and just rub it all over your face and it wouldn't bother most of you.
If someone else did that to you it would be disgusting. But what have they been touching that you haven't? Do you mind if they rub all over your face? Do you mind rubbing all over your own face?

Kinda like why you have no problem smelling your own farts, but would be disgusted to smell someone else's.

But I think it has to do with the familiarity you have with someone else. I for instance would not be disgusted to touch my SO's face because I know she is clean and she doesn't register as foreign to me. The random guy next to me on the subway, no way.
