Why not just hack the Jihad-calling sites?

Shouldn't the US or allies try to take down and hack-to-hell all Islamic websites that call for Jihad, etc? Sure, the media could be send out to other media forms like tv and radio, but why allow such crazy Islamic stuff to exist out there? I think the publishing of the beheading tape is reason enough to hack the hell out of such sites...

Because the United States as a political organization cannot turn back on its own ethics, and the freely-acting people of the United States are either too apathetic or too ignorant to do so. Not that some haven't (e.g. the Al Jazeera hack awhile ago)

Sure, why not. While we are at it, lets call upon the Islamic hackers to hack the hell out of FOXNews. If they should have their propaganda hacked, so should we.

I've wondered about this myself.

I think the answer is that we may occasionally get useful information from these websites, and it's better to let them continue to operate.

I'm not saying that we should, I'm just wondering why that option was never persued. I guess in the end it might get more people upset and decide to join the jihad-crowd by default since they were being brought down by the 'man'.

I dont know. I would think doing something of that magnitude would require a vast deal of knowledge. And people who are smart generally don't fall for propaganda unlike the vast majority of sheep in this country. Just my two cents.

ITs been done several time in the past. Maybe its less of a challenge for the hackers to hack a website they have defaced in the past, or maybe there's just not much of technological challenge in it as well. Much better try to test their skill against a bank or federal entity with much better security system.
