Why no laptop llano CPU's for mini itx?

Unless I just missed them, I'm curious why there are no desktop motherboards with laptop designated llano APUs. It seems like a logical niche, for people who want a small power-efficient CPU but want something faster than an E-350 or E-450. The jump from 18W to 100W for the desktop llano is huge, why not some of the 35 or 45W llano options?

Sorry, I know my post was rather incoherent. I meant why can't we buy a laptop llano CPU and put it into a desktop motherboard?

The 35 and 45W models, for example a6-3400m

I don't see any mobile llano CPU for sale. I am guessing they don't even have pins, and are just permanently attached to the motherboard, but it seems like they could sell the board + CPU combos, why not?

Could be that laptop manufacturers are tying up all their production? Or that there isn't enough demand? Maybe send AMD an email and ask. Wouldn't hurt.

If you bought a standard desktop Llano chip, clocked it down to 1.5 GHz and ran it at the lowest stable voltage you would get very close to the same performance as a 35W laptop chip. There are plenty of software tools you can use to achieve this and you still have the flexibility of running higher frequencies if you wish.

Yeah, I agree. According to AMD's financial results the other day it clearly shows they are selling every single A-Series chip they can make. There just aren't any mobile variants available

Say what?! The topic of the post is "Why no llano CPU's for mini itx." You do see the acronym CPU there right?

And if you had read the AMD financials thread you would see AMD is selling a LOT of llano's. Don't go into people's post and threadcrap just because you dislike AMD.

FWIW, I would rather have an option between the 17W and 35W Trinity parts versus Brazos (e-series APUs, right?) I would even like to see it on mATX since I am not big into the smaller form factors and prefer a couple extra slots and a little bit more space around components on the motherboard...

I was working under the assumption that the laptop CPU was some other socket. Pretty obvious from the very first reply on that the motherboards exist and are available, it's just lack of available CPUs for purchase (unless you go to ebay and buy used pulls).

I've noticed a few laptop llano CPU for sale on ebay also, so I guess you could do this today if you wanted to. Still, it's unfortunate that the CPUs aren't generally available new/retail, only secondhand on ebay.

When you can just buy an A6-3400M notebook for $400 I dont see a market for mini-itx. For less money you can build an HTPC and take it with you too.

I think if I enjoy my HTPC, it requires a large screen with a great set of audio devices which a notebook don't have. Mini-itx still gots the market. I believe the finance affects much.

Those are Socket FM1. Mobile Llano is on Socket FS1.
