Why no good HDTV deals?

I'm going to be moving into a new house by the end of July, and I'll be getting a new HDTV, probably a standard CRT projection 51-52". I am very surprised at the lack of deals/interest in this area. Right now we are looking at a couple Hitachis at HH Gregg, the 51F510 and the 51F710 for 1500+ and 1900+, respectively. I just thought if there was a great deal on a better, similar-size TV I might jump on it. Heck I would even consider something similar in DLP if I could get it right down around 2000 (HH Gregg has a 52" Toshiba DLP for $2,250). I just haven't seen much of anything for deals on CRT HDTVs though. Am I looking in the wrong places? At the wrong time of year? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Newer HDTV technology is rolling out this year, April to July: true 1080p. Expect 1080i/720p tv's to drop down in price once retail chain/market gets good amount of these newer tv's.

As with any other large screen TV, avoid buying season before christmas and before superbowl. Retailers usually go strict MSRP or above.
 
even though wrong forum, i agree totaly, hdtv has not gone down in price like i had expected, HOWEVER I DO HAVE A RECOMENDATION FOR YOU....****MITSUBISHI,MITSUBISHI,MITSUBISHI*** I USED TO WORK AT A AUDIO/VIDEO STORE SELLING TVS EVERY DAY, AND THEY ARE THE BEST TV YOU CAN BUY!!!!!
 

Sorry, I wasn't sure which forum this would go in. I was kind of thinking that people in the Hot Deals forum would be more of a target knowledge base for HDTV deals or general deal information than other forums. But you'll not hear a peep out of me if it gets moved, I'm just looking for information.
 
BAH - i can see the relevance to this forum. Perhaps putting it in the "I Wanna" thread would have made more sense, but cut the guy some slack. It could have been MUCH more irrelevant
