Why must we continue to have anti war protesters protesting STILL in America?

your right. How dare those Americans excercise their right to freedom of speech! The thought of them doing that makes me wanna vomit.

Local police units dont really play a huge role in anti-terror efforts. If the FBI or anyone else needs them, they can show more force than many think, but as mentioned before in this thread, being at the protest making sure BOTH sides stay safe is also part of their job.

If these people really care about the safety of their own country, they will stop protesting now. When they protest, usually it attracts police. Now, the protesters are not going to stop war right now, we all do. The police are better used ELSEwhere, like, maybe, defending the homeland than arresting an anti-war idiot who thinks Bush is Hitler. We need as much police as possible.

Your thoughts?

yeah yeah
more police, more police
Attacking Iraq is good for national security.

or follow the Canadian policy and don't waste money on a defense budget, instead make your neighboors defend you, then when they use the same forces you depend on in a battle which makes the world safer for them as well, complain like a little child.

Nice bit of rhetoric you tool.
Who has the U.S ever defended us from? The only country to ever attack Canada was the fvcking U.S you donkey. We don't piss people off like you do, so we don't exactly have any 'natural' enemies.

I'm sorry you cant tell the difference between rhetoric and fact, perhaps you should take a fresh look at the state of your military. Yes your defense is ENTIRELY up to the US, you count on that when you slash your military budgets to pay for social programs. Granted you have no "enemies", however terrorist attacks that might occur in NYC could EASILY reach Canada, do yuo think chemical or biological weapons are going to respect your border???? LOL

I guess ten minutes isnt enough to explain how it would be impossible for chemical or biological weapons released into the US COULD NOT POSSIBLY AFFECT Canada in any way. Of course you have the ability to seal off your portion of the atmosphere and all ground water. IS THAT YOUR MASTER PLAN? lol

lol, sorry..... Let me stay on topic... while I agree with the war, they are fighting for the same freedoms anti-war protestors have here as well, the difference is the soldiers are willing to fight with more than their mouth for what they believe, maybe its a difference in strength of conviction, maybe its a reflection of courage.... Better?

Maybe its a reflection of socio-economic status, maybe its a reflection of circumstance, maybe its a reflection of education, maybe you're right... there can be many reasons why someone would join the military.

I disagree with this logic because it implies that protestors should be fighting with bullets instead of words. Peaceful protest is the incarnation of some of our most basic constitutional rights.

Protesters are doing so because they disagree, not necessarily because they lack courage. One can be anti-war, but still have the courage to take up arms.

Not all soldiers have the courage of a lion; not all protestors are cowards.

think of all the protesters in the past...i am sure that many people wanted them to go away. but because they fought through it and got what they wanted they give these new protesters a reason...

my 2 cents at least

I'm proud to live in a country where people have a right to voice their opinions. That's the freedom our troops are defending.

I can't see why the answer to that question isn't clear cut? Do you really not know? or are you wanting to pick a fight with the anti-war crowd?

Once again they have the right to say and think what they want, however naive it may be. If Saddam held the same views they did we wouldn't have this problem, so maybe they are right in principle, but not in this case. Nothing in Saddam's actions suggest he is anything short of a mass murdering maniac that I would suggest is incapable of living peacefully anywhere. His madness will not be changed by wars or sanctions, even the sheer certainty of death have not made him see the error of his ways. The anti-war protestors need to accept not everyone is peacefull, some like Saddam are the CAUSE of wars, ones to be fought to preserve a greater and longer lasting peace. Utopia sounds nice, I'm all for it, but we are hardly there yet, the one they needed to plead their case to WAS Saddam, our government has already made up their mind on how to deal with his threat. It's a bit late now, but it was pointless to begin with, so let them do their thing and excercise their American rights as American soldiers FIGHT to make sure they have that privelage.

Freedom of speech is a beautiful thing.

That is not the point. You are not willing to agree that these protesters are harming ALL American's safety?

Hey punk, if you are so concerned about Americans' safety, why don't you join the military and go to Iraq and fight? Too scared? Too physically unfit? Quit whining, kid!

People who are willing to give up freedom for the sake of short-term security, deserve neither freedom nor security.

i hear this a lot, and as much as i try, i can't understand how the current conflict is defending anything, let alone the freedom of speech.
