why must they hunt ghosts in the dark?

Why do the ghost hunters like TAPS always go 'lights out' and perform their investigations in the middle of the night? Do ghosts only come out at night and when it is dark?

Not trying to poke fun, just want to know what if any is the explanation for this.

I imagine though that this practice would have a negative effect on the investigation because people of course are not nocturnal so you are relying on people with tired eyes which are not made to work in the dark. Wouldn't it be expected for them to "see things" in such a situation?

It's all to make good TV, and to make it "scary". Do you think ghosts would be scary in the daytime? Probably not.

They use infrared camera and stuff, which light generally produces heat and as such can cause "noise".

Because running around screaming and breathing heavy with a camera strapped to your head chasing imaginary revenants looks ridiculous in the light. And in the dark come to think of it.

But more so in the light. Therefore, they turn off the lights and turn on the backlights on their misappropriated EE test equipment.

I don't know. I've seen shows on the discovery channel and such where people would be in some old plantation house during the day and they turn a corner and some creepy old guy or little kid is just staring at them and then disappears. That would creep me the hell out and I would vacate that place ASAP.

because its a quiet time. less noise at night to mess up the EVP work.

but ghost do play during the day time.

Well for the Zelda Wii, they would only show up at night. You had to use your wolf sense to see them and attack them. Think there were 60 of them throughout the game.

Because it's easier to alter video footage when it is dark, blurry, and grainy. All of those tend to happen naturally when you shoot video in the dark with a mediocre camera.

During the day the UFO Hunters use their equipment to capture blurry photos/video of planes flying so they can only work at night.

yeah, and the stereo speakers producing "GET OUT" when it isn't even on will do that too. I'd gtfo.

prove it.

oh you cant its just a belief you have.

yeah! not believing in things for which there is no evidence is dumb

I believe in everything for which there is no proof. leprechauns, unicorns, the sock monster, bushs brain, fsm, bigfoot, nessie, chupacabra, the fae. i mean, until you can prove those things don't exist, I'm just going to live like they do, because forming a logical and rational opinion based on observable evidence is way overrated. long live gnomes!

There was something in the news this week about caffeine being able to induce hallucinations. So late at night with enough caffeine and/or liquor some people might actually believe they saw something.

The burden of proof always lies with someone who claims something exists. ALWAYS. Until some is put forward, they're as real as the greek gods, leprechauns, unicorns, and santa claus.
