Why MSI .... Why Abit

This is like choosing a damn car!

The MSI K7T Pro2a - Not able to control the PCI bus when changing the FSB? Donm't need messed up CD-ROMS and HD's. Large capasitors get in the way of large HS and fan mounting? Lacks OCing tools?

The Abit ABIT's KT7 - Comes with a nice fan to cool the chipset :) The last thing you need in your system is excess heat, or the stability and CPU lifespan issues that go with it. On the KT7-RAID, ABIT has gone a step further in preventing extra heat: A six MOSFET transistor set for a ?3-Phase Power Solution.? These six transistors dissipate heat more effectively than the four transistor (?2-Phase?) solution found on most other Socket A motherboards. Additionally, should future Thunderbirds require higher amperage, the KT7-RAID will address power and heat issues better than boards with 2-phase solutions.

Damnit ...... Which one!?!?!??!

errrrrrrrr

You dont even know what you're talking about.

Choose the MSI if you want a board that OC well and is trouble free.

If you want to tinker & mess with it all the time trying to get it stable then buy a Abit board.

They call it Abit for a good reason,It always needs A BIT of work before it works good.;)

You sound like you already made up your mind, go for Abit.

<<The MSI K7T Pro2a - Not able to control the PCI bus when changing the FSB? Donm't need messed up CD-ROMS and HD's. >>

?? I believe it does have the abilit to choose 1/3 and 1/4 PCI divider.

<<Large capasitors get in the way of large HS and fan mounting?>>

No....

<<Lacks OCing tools?>>

1MHz increment, 5x-12.5x multiplier selectable, 0.025v voltage increments, all done in the BIOS, and FuzzyLogicIII if you dont want to do the overclocking yourself.

Are you sure you are comparing an MSi K7T Pro 2a? and not just a Pro (1)?

The Pro2A offers everything the ABit does and adds a little something I like to call stability.

I dunno, maybe I just got lucky but I think my Abit KT7 is a sweet board. I first had a D600 running stable at 900MHz on it. For the last 6 weeks I've had a D700 running stable at 1083MHz. When it comes to setting it up it's flat out the best board I've ever worked with. (And yes, I've worked with a fair share of them over the years.) And I've found it to be an extremely stable board.

I just built a MSI KT7 Pro2a system for my wife. I was/am very impressed with the board. Right after I assembled it using the provided drivers/bios it was able to hit 950 like butter. After some tweaking and updating it should get over 1 gig I expect. I still like my A7V but the MSI board was a lot easier to set up. The A7V has some quirks like the ABIT KT7 I have read/heard.
