1. Never let others use your computer, or at least make them use it on their own, limited login;

2. Failing that, instruct all users to not download anything without asking first (even if they are trying to be helpful or are afraid of the warning that popped up); and

3. Maybe I am missing something, but why is there a shortcut to your desktop ON your desktop?

LOL! My parents are using a hand-me-down P4 that they have zero complaints about. Aim lower because really there really isn't much you need THAT much power for.
 
The specs I mentioned are pretty much as bargain-basement as it gets for new components. I wouldn't get her an old rig to replace the one she has.
 
I find if you just make the desktop background hardcore porn pictures and cover the keyboard in KY, they will leave your computer alone.

DVD Decrypter is extremely out-dated. AnyDVD HD + IMGBurn FTW. Sure, AnyDVD isn't free, but you never have to worry about support/updates. IMGBurn is far more than DVD Decrypter ever was even though it started out as a continuation of DVD Decrypter without the CSS decryption (same author).

Yeah, when I was your age, I didn't see the value in partitioning my computer into separate accounts and even running as a non-administrative user because I wanted MAXX PERFORMANCEEE!!!1. But, maybe you can learn earlier that your Mom should have her own (non-administrator) account and that the performance hit doesn't matter too much.
