Why Maximum PC simply rocks!

My new issue of Maximum came in today and the magazine simply kicks ass. I've only skimped thru the magazine but what I've seen so far...

1) Max PC has 6 pages dedicated to Mobo Mania. They look at the current Intel and AMD mobo's and rate them and tell you which ones to buy.

2) Max PC's main article tells you whether or not your system can hack or play the upcoming games, specially Half Life. They go thru extensively Direct X 6, 7, 8 and 9. They tell you what effects you'll be able to run with each card and what to expect. A big help to me, because I'm considering upgrading my rig to play the upcoming games.

3) Thinking about upgrading or flashing your bios? Well Max PC delves into this particular issue and they tell you how to do this so you don't kill your motherboard.

Plus... the no-nonsense reviews they do on computer, computer parts are very trust worthy. They tell it like it is. And the ask the doctor sections and the rig of the month section kicks ass as well.

IMO.. Max PC stands above 99% of the other so-called hardware magazines out there and they simply obliterate the competition. And I might say that they are on par with most online hardware sites as well.

disagree/agree.....

Heh...

But can you take AT to the crapper? Well you can if youy have a pocket pc, but do you want to take the chance of dropping your pocket pc in the toilet? I think not!

Actually At does kick butt, but Max PC is pretty good also.

MaxPC is great other than their belief that the Ultra5900 is better than a 9800PRO.

I think CPU and MaxPC have totally different focuses. CPU tries to do a lot of explaining oh how stuff works, and has a lot of editorials about the industry in general. MaxPC is more "applicable" in that it gives you tips and guides that you can use now.

The worst thing that CPU has is that stupid contest article where 2 people try to build a specialized computer (htpc, video editing, etc.) That has to be a complete waste of space.

I totally agree. Both magazines have totally different focuses. I do get both but I enjoy Max PC much better. I love the guides Max PC does such as how to clean out and reformatting your hard drive, or how to overclock your cpu.

Hey, I like that CPU feature where they are challenged to build the best machines. I get all sorts of ideas from those.

But I prefer Max PC to CPU overall. CPU is highly technical, more of an industry insider thing, with reviews of a lot of products that only have commercial application. Max PC is more of a hardware version of PC Gamer.
