Alot of us are gamers. And 98% of all games are for pc only. Of the remaining 2%, 99% of those are for both operating systems.
has there ever been a mac only game?
Gaming hasn't been a strong point for the Mac for a long time... No DirectX, everything has to be OpenGL. However there were a few games that first were released for Mac (Bungie's Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity, SimTower and its sequel Yoot's Tower) or exlusively for the Mac, like the first Marathon. Nowadays only
Pangea Software produces exclusively for the Mac, as far as I know, but there is a vital shareware scene with companies that predominantly sell Mac games (
Ambrosia and
Freeverse are the most known, I think).

Macs aren't perfect and I think the more popular they become, the lower the quality will be.
I recieve the impression that quality problems recieve much more attention now than a few years ago. Seriously, there always were problems every now and then but with an increased user base (or the media knowing Apple as the "iPod company", maybe), they are reported more.

Wow, that was a bad experience. I've only had good experiences with customer support so far. Apple exchanged my iBook after some logic board (motherboard) failures with a better one and the employees/call center persons were polite. The new battery from the Sony battery exchange program was delivered after less than two weeks instead of the expected 6-8.
It's also a standard procedure to replace or reformat HDDs during repairs and you should've been asked to backup your data. In case you should need to give one of your Macs away for repairing, I recommend
Carbon Copy Cloner to back up the OS, so you won't have to re-install everything.

I don't like Macs because I have had a terrible experience with them every time I used one. I guess I truly hated Apple when they came out with the iPod. I also, think that they're marketing team is fulll of jokers (c'mon, even my grandma knows that those commercials are exagerated/far from the truth) and it's pathetic that MS owns (please correct me if I'm wrong) %40 percent of Apple. They're main competitor owns %40 percent of them WTF!? And it's funny that every Mac I've used has nothing but Microsoft programs on them. Maybe, I love the penguin so much, that I'm oblivious to the decency of Macs. Anyway, to each their own just so long that they don't try to force their own on anyone else.
Okay, I'll give them these two things: 1. The Apple 2 was a great machine

and they're cases are well made and pretty.
Wow your attitude is so 1997

. Thats when Microsoft invested in
Apple shares without a vote and Microsoft sold them a few years later. Also I'm glad to say that my two Macs are Microsoft-free zones, so it's possible and I don't feel like I miss something.

1) How much time have you spent troubleshooting your PC? Imagine a computer designed by people who hate to waste time as much as you do. Where all the hardware and software just works, and works well together. Get a Mac and get your life back.
if you're a retard and intend to put a floppy disk in your cd drive, as some people are stupid enough to do (someone DID post that, happened at their work), of course your computer wont work.
That's obviously directed at driver problems or similar Windows-specific instabilities. The point is that I've read on AT that the first thing you should do after buying a Dell is to re-install Windows to get rid of the pre-installed OEM crap, meanwhile the bundled OS X software is actually useful.
3) You won?t want to hide your Mac in a corner of the den. You?ll want it front and center in your life. The Apple style shows in every detail, from its sculpted surfaces to its gorgeous Mac OS X graphics.
By making your own computer, you have an infinite selection of cases, monitors, etc. Full customization. Apple - you're limited to what.... 5 models? (black/white MPB, 1 notebook style, 1 imac style, and 1 tower style , am i missing anything?). OSX is pretty? ok i guess, i really dont care either way as long as my stuff gets done.
You left out the Mac Mini but seriously, is it Apple's fault that GUI looks isn't your priority? It's a fact that the GUI gets few negative critics and the cases even less, even if there is only half a dozen of them at a given time.
6) Intel Core Duo processors put you on the cutting edge. In fact, a Mac with an Intel chip is so fast it surprises even longtime Windows pundits, who keep running benchmarks again and again. Results? Fast. Fast. Yup, still fast.
macs have generally been slower UNTIL they used intel's new Core CPUs. Check out Anandtech's OSX Server benchmarks. Just by switching from OSX to a Linux distro, the G5 server performance (generally) increases by twice or more. yup, still slow.
The G3 actually was a competitive CPU. The later G4s and even more the last G5s... I'd prefer not to talk about them
But it's funny that you answered 3) with a custom built PC, but you can't build one with the latest and greatest Intel CPUs because Intel first delivers them to the Tier 1 manufactors, than to other bulk purchasers and months later to the end customer. I just want to point out that even the PC universe isn't the boundless wonderland, you have to set priorities there, too.
13) Just plug in your stuff. A Mac includes USB drivers for mass storage, digital cameras, input devices, iPod, and more. It can see Bluetooth cell phones and headsets, as well as FireWire cameras. No rebooting.
everyone needs drivers, regardless of the platform. yes, if i plug in a camera it will work just fine, but by not having the proper drivers/software, i probably wont get the best possible use out of it. USB mass storage? input devices? please, at least give an example that actually reinforces the statement - plug and play means just that.
Apple's point is that hundreds of megabytes of drivers are pre-installed or delivered with the OS. And it's not just basic functionality but Apple tries to give its best and the standard applications are compatible with each other, so you can p.e. transfer your appointments from iCal to iSynch and your phone. Or import your photos to iPhoto and generate a web gallery or order a customised Photo Album online five minutes later.
Input devices for Macs are by definition hot pluggable because Apple dropped it's PS\2 equivalent, non-hot pluggable interface around 1999.
Even printers are hot pluggable if they make use of the zero-conf Rendezvous/Bonjour protocol.
14) Other computers include software, it?s true. But once you start using that software, you find that you?re hobbled in some way or another. Software included with the Mac, on the other hand, is critically acclaimed as best in class.
PC's dont get unified packages as they have independent retailers. Apple enjoys this advantage by being both MFR and software dev. if MS were to package something with windows, of course, the world would scream bloody murder.
Well you're free to name at least one manufactor who bundles actually useful software with Windows.
Microsoft is free to p.e. bundle an equivalent of iCal but it looks like they want to make some extra bucks with Office Entourage. Also Microsoft already bundles Movie Maker and nobody complained. The software probably is average because it hasn't got the same attention like iMovie, I don't know...

According to the digital imaging forums I hang out it Photoshop running on XP on $1000 Core 2 Duo rigs are absolutley slaughtering Mac Pros and iMacs, and even Apple users are complaining. This is the one of the typical differences between the reality distortion field produced by Apple and their own user base.
Modern Macs can only run Photoshop in the Rosetta environment or on Windows, blame Macrobe.
The security issue is just more Mac propoganda. If Windows users learned to log on without local admin rights, Apple wouldn't be able to write propoganda about Trojans and Spyware.
If, if... Join the reality!
