Why Kyeboard has WINDOW logo button?

Its a stupid question but still I want to know. Why keyboards have WINDOW logo button when its for all Operating systems. 😱😱

Probably to make the whole system feel more cohesive. It's only very recently you could buy a mainstream oem system that doesn't have Windows. It also wouldn't surprise me if MS in the past kicked in some money to put it there. A bit of advertising that makes Windows feel inevitable, rather than just another choice.

Edit:
My preferred keyboard doesn't have a key there at all. They omitted it to save weight :^D

That thing should be in a museum somewhere lol. Two things I haven't seen on one of my keyboards in quite some time: a PS/2 connector and a cord.

Yeah, it was a real break from Microsoft's traditional inclusive behaviour by suggesting to keyboard manufacturers that the Windows key should have a Windows logo on it 😛

But then, if you were running Microsoft, are you telling me that you would pass up an opportunity to reinforce a bit of brand recognition?

MS probably wouldn't give giant manufacturers the 'windows 95 certified!' logo without including the windows key on the keyboard way back when. and that's probably continued to this day. due to economies of scale, it's cheaper to just make 1 keyboard that has it, instead of 2 keyboards, one without and one with. and there's probably some people that actually use it.

On what planet? Every keyboard I own has a cord, including three that I bought just this year (one of which I should sell, but I'll probably end up gifting it). In fact, I can't think of a single good non-corded keyboard that isn't made in small runs for enthusiasts. Also, PS/2 is almost always optional on good KBs.

It was meant as a light hearted comment .. sheesh.

I retract all prior comments and offer my (pick body part) to appease the IBM/PS2/corded/10 pound/mechanical/grey keyboard enthusiasts out there (you have to come get it though).

Still, I have several good wireless keyboards that were quite reasonably priced. Guess I got lucky.

I know of iOne's XArmor, KBT Pro, plus some Asian brands that do even less frequent production runs than KBT.

There's no technical reason they couldn't be quite common amongst high-quality keyboards (give a battery indicator light, have a USB charger, use NIMH cells, and there goes the common downsides to wireless), and the ones that come out seem to sell like hotcakes (usually whole production runs selling out quickly), but it's not yet a pervasive feature.

Because keyboards are designed to cater to the masses and for the most part, the masses use Windows. The button's existance doesn't detract from non-Windows OSs, therefore it's existance only adds value. In some cases it can even be changed to do other actions.
