Don't you mean to say, "as if George Bush gives a crap what the Security Council thinks"? :p

This is back asswards. Our government is designed so that we allow it to do certain things, not the other way around.

In terms of Iraq this means Congress should have decided to do War with Iraq, not the King.

Yeah, but what he means is by griping on the internet about it. Everyone at the top listens to protests and things made more public - not threads saying "Please don't go to war!!" - that's not the way we represent ourselves to the government. So saying "they should listen to us" doesn't work.

Would that be this Congress? Seems the "King" already checked in with them.

JOINT RESOLUTION ON IRAQ

October 11, 2002

Congress passes a bipartisan resolution authorizing President Bush to use military force, acting alone if necessary, in order to ensure that Iraq disarms any weapons of mass destruction.

The Internet is a communications tool designed for people to share porn and argue about movies . . . err . . . politics.

Dont forget to post this part:

(1) strictly enforce through the United Nations Security Council all relevant Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq and encourages him in those efforts; and

(2) obtain prompt and decisive action by the Security Council to ensure that Iraq abandons its strategy of delay, evasion and noncompliance and promptly and strictly complies with all relevant Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq.

I know...there's so many freaking war threads lately. I bet you could count 15 on the front page alone. It's getting ridiculous

It is pointless but venting is healthy. Some post here to stroke their egos, to attempt to force their views on others, for a rise, etc., etc. Others simply like to get a different perspective on subjective matters. And hey we're social people. We like to chatter. :)

Let's see if we can match war threads with Return of the King threads. Are you with me, Kami?

I've figured it out. This is a massive game of good cop - bad cop. Saddam absolutely wouldn't have gone as far as he already has without the imminent threat of being smashed by the U.S. and whoever wants to come along. The Germans, French, and Russians are playing good cop to give Saddam the appearance of a chance to avoid it. I don't know if Bush is smart enough to realize he's in this position, but if it turns out that Saddam backs down all the way, it's OK with me. If they are able to present stronger evidence that Saddam has bio and chemical weapons, at least everyone will be able to say the world held back until they had him dead to rights... emphasis on the word, dead.

Meanwhile, I'm getting tired of arguing about it on more trivial levels of the public positions presented by the various players. AFIC, it's a soap opera. Since I can't do anything about it, I'm going to sit back and watch the show and hope for the best.

Meanwhile, anything Osama has to say has to be taken as the rants of an opportunistic war and hate monger.
