Why isn't PM Enabled the default for new Anandtech Accounts.

I can't count the number of times I've been PM'd by a newbie and not been able to PM them back with the answer because they don't realize that they have to enable PMs in order to receive them.

What could it hurt?
 
In 1999 we took a poll and decided leaving the default "off" would make a good test of new members' intelligence. The idea was that when people did what you described, they would get fed up and leave, thereby sparing us from those who weren't up to the task.
